ICE continues to be a very disgusting group.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@sh.itjust.works 48 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I guess "very disgusting group" is just another way of saying "a fucking nazi horde" or "the usonian SS"

Just call them Republicans.

77 million Republicans voted for this. Republican politicians can stop it anytime they want to.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yep. Don't ever call this "trumpism". It's Republicanism and conservatism.

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They are not conservatives. They are Republicans.

[–] TwodogsFighting 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Why are they so desperate for a king then?

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They are afraid. The reason they voted Trump in the first time was because Republican voters are afraid of the out group having nice things.

It's not hate. It's fear. Republicans are afraid of society passing them by. They choose hate because they cannot handle being afraid.

That's it. Trump promised Republican voters he would hurt the right people and that's all the warm safety blanket they needed. This is why you can't talk to most Republicans. Reality scares them and they know reason will rip off their safety blanket.

But it's not just fear of others, it's a fear of change. We no longer live in a world where you can survive purely by your physical effort. The world has moved on from that and these people's value have dropped. Unfortunately there isn't a great path for these people. They basically need to reinvent themselves and that is difficult.

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

The key concept here is fear. The specifics don't really matter right now. What does matter is understanding that their fear led to desperation and that made Trump look like a viable option.

If Republicans were not afraid of god damn everything they would not have been desperate enough to vote for Trump. Multiple times in multiple elections.

Why they are afraid isn't the problem. People not understanding that fear is the root cause is the problem. Republicans are followers, not leaders. Since Democrats and not-Republicans don't have any good leaders that leaves Republicans with a very easy decision. Vote Republican because that is what they are told to do. Don't vote for Democrats because they are The Enemy, which is also what they are told.

Last November when it was crunch time 77 million Republicans out voted a whole bunch of apathetic not-Republicnas. Fear won over apathy.

People spend too much time trying to understand the Republican mind. Don't. They won't believe you anyway.

not to mention all the seemingly-real people on Facebook who are vocally approving of this because she "FAFO" or "didn't follow the law"

this has disgusted me so much that I'm actually gonna stop looking at facebook. previously I was using it to gauge the other side, somewhat

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 0 points 4 days ago

Plus some democrats as well.

Murdered. Murdered is the word you are looking for.

It's still better than the mainstream headlines that are like "Eyebrow raising altercation prompts debate about ICE's use of force."

I don't know anything about "Defector" but I assume they're more left-leaning and will be mostly seen by people who already agree with the points they make.

[–] phx@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Honestly at this point there type of things seem like more than just murder. It's fucking execution

DHS Tells Obvious, Insane Lies About It

As is their custom and modus operandi.

I sometimes wonder if ICE could get away with a mass shooting.

  • Several trucks of ICE agents show up at some university.
  • "You're harboring illegal immigrants. Give them up."
  • "Huh? What do you mean?"
  • pew pew. plop.
  • "Sir, members among the university staff pulled guns on us. We're sweeping through the facility to neutralize the terrorist threat."
  • Police show up.
  • "Don't worry officers, we're handling the situation here. Illegal immigrants started shooting at us, so we're handling the threat."
  • "ICE agents at that university today have stated that the staff were encouraging the students to rebel against the United States. We should be thankful for the agents' swift action."
  • "We need to reach across the aisle and help our ICE agents in need. Foiling a terrorist plot like that must be weighing heavily on them."

Holy shit, do you guys have any level of history education? That scenario was Kent State and U New Mexico in 1970. They used the National Guard back then and no one was ever held responsible.

[–] TargaryenTKE@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Remember, no ~~Russian~~ English

Yeah. They could. Group of protesters protesting ICE, someone throws an acorn that hits an ICE agent in the hollow head, they hear a “thock” sound and start shooting. Claim they feared for their lives because they can.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

Don't give them ideas

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 31 points 5 days ago

Come see the violence inherent in the system!

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 20 points 5 days ago

Noem is a lying piece of shit and should be in prison (at least).

Did any of the officers magically transform into frogs this time around?

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world -2 points 4 days ago

"ICE Agents" make it sound like winter is coming (although it'll be more like draughts and nazism).
