I stole a deck of tarot cards from a shop hawking souvenirs a few days ago. I used it to give my friends readings at a party yesterday. Now I will give you one if you ask for it as well.

Fair warning, a lot of people pulled the tower. I pulled it twice (both for how I should handle the coming year, and for how I expect it to go.)

Here's how it goes: You ask me to do a reading. I pull three cards for you and that's just about it. You can figure out what they mean on your own, I like to use this website: https://www.thetarotguide.com/
But maybe this one is better https://littleredtarot.com/about/

If the cards suck I'll happily pull three more for how you should handle it. If they suck too? Too bad.

Also I might not do it anyway, I have a hangover and I'm close to falling asleep.

The numbers! What do they mean mason?
From reddit

In RWS (and the various decks derived from it) and Thoth, the influence of qabala adds to, and in most cases, outweighs the previous influence of traditional cartomancy in the "context" penciled in for the numbers one through ten. If one wants to understand the minors, it may help to know a little bit about qabala.
The problem with this is that given the increasing influence of Jewish culture during the last 100 years, when we wish to study just what Chokmah, Binah, Chesed, Geburah, Tiphareth, Netzach, Hod, Yesod and Malkuth (two through ten, respectively) mean, we are liable to encounter much more modern thought and scholarship than may have been available to the late 19th/early 20th century men and women who are responsible for much of what tarot "means" today.
But there is a set of simple, one or two-sentence definitions available that reflect what the contemporary thinking of people such as Lévi, Papus, Mathers, Waite, Colman-Smith and Crowley might have been: the Book T. We know, at a minimum, that the latter four in particular had direct involvement with the Order of the Golden Dawn.

Here are those definitions, as abbreviated as possible:
Chokmah (2): ...generally imply the initiation and fecundation of a thing.
Binah (3): Action definitely commenced for good or evil.
Chesed (4): Perfection, realisation, completion, making a matter settled and fixed.
Geburah (5): Opposition, strife and struggle; war, obstacle to the thing in hand. Ultimate success or failure is otherwise shown.
Tiphareth (6): Definite accomplishment, and carrying out of a matter. Nezach (7): Generally shows a force, transcending the material plane, and ...then show a possible result which is dependent on the action then taken.
Hod (8): ...solitary success; i.e., success in the matter for the time being, but not leading to much result apart from the thing itself.
Yesod (9): ...very great fundamental force. Executive power, because they rest on a firm basis, powerful for good or evil.
Malkuth (10): ...fixed culminated completed Force, whether good or evil. The matter thoroughly and definitely determined.

The suits mason, what do they mean?
Swords: Air – Thoughts, communication, intellect, and conflict.
Wands: Fire – Action, passion, movement, and energy.
Cups: Water – Emotions, intuition, relationships, and love.
Pentacles: Earth – Finances, work, material possessions, and the physical world.

The court cards, what do they symbolise mason?
They might be literal people.

Pages: Beginnings and Curiosity
Pages represent youth, learning, and new opportunities. They are messengers and symbolise a fresh approach or exploration of the suit’s energy. They also represent children, immature people, or those who are young at heart, who embody the characteristics of the suit.

Knights: Action and Pursuit
Knights are about movement, ambition, and determination. They embody the active pursuit of goals and are driven by the suit’s energy. They represent young adults, or people who are starting over, who embody the characteristics of the suit.

Queens: Nurturing and Mastery of the Inner Self
Queens symbolise inner wisdom, maturity, and nurturing. They represent mastery of the inner aspects of the suit, often showing a calm and composed approach. They represent mature women, feminine people, or people with emotional maturity, who embody the characteristics of the suit.

Kings: Authority and Mastery of the Outer Self
Kings represent leadership, control, and mastery of the external world. They signify the full command of the suit’s energy and the ability to direct it outward effectively. They represent mature men, or masculine people, who embody the characteristics of the suit.

I read your tarot and you're not gonna believe it, but I drew the blue-eyes white dragon. You're getting sent to the shadow realm qin-shi-huangdi-fireball

Your cards. They're pretty good.

possible reading.I've edited the main post to give some text on what the numbers of the minor arcana signify. Likewise with symbology of each suit, and the court.
The two of wands indicates you will experience some amount of indecisiveness in your everyday life. Some amount of fear might be holding you back from taking action and setting out on a new course. Assuming the cards are describing a connected fortune, these might indicate that if you do act, break out of your locked state, you will experience a great material fortune (king of pentacles). Breaking out will require that you find an inner strength, which could happen by dealing with some minor challenge in your life (reversed four of swords), before you go on to dealing with the whole two-of-wands-situation.
Or it could be a lot of other stuff. But the king of pentacles is pretty baller card. King means mastery of the external world. Pentacles is the suit for the material world.

I will ponder this reading, thank you.

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

I wish you the best, you deserve it

[–] Sneakytrickyyy@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Let's goooo, love me some virtual card pack opening! I wonder if it'll be sicko-blur or sicko-no

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think you got some pretty sicko-pog cards, not the worst draw for sure

Your cards

  • Page of swords
  • Reversed 5 of swords
  • King of Pentacles
Check the post description for some details on what the numbers, suits and court cards signify.
It should also be noted that the minor arcana typically govern day-to-day-life, not large singular events.
If you are expecting news on anything - A job offer, asking someone out, a raise, inviting people to a party - Then expect the news to come slowly, but they should be positive. Also king of pentacles = big money
[–] Sneakytrickyyy@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

Wow, thank you for the reading! It was fun I dig this stuff, probably because I like JJBA or because of some of the Persona games lol, Again, thanks! sicko-wholesome

[–] SnakeEyes@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Get some rest, also rolling for a lottery ticket less goooooooo

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm rested, that's why I have a hangover trump-moist
I am apparently really in a writing mood, because I've given you a lot of text yay

You got some decent cards! No whammies, but no bombs either

Brief overview of the cards meaning
You've pulled 3 of the minor arcana. The minor arcana generally describes the day-to-day life rather than singular large events. The swords are associated with mentality - thoughts, communication and so on. The suit of pentacles is associated with the material world.
The king is associated with mastery of the outside world.
The numbers can kind of be thought of as telling the hero's journey, where the ace is the "genre" or theme of the story and the 10 is the epilogue. In this sense 4 is typically seen as an early success over a minor trial. The 9 is typically seen as the "climax".
When a card is reversed you can kind of think of its meaning being turned upside-down.
You can use this to make your own interpretation, or you can read more specific stuff about each card here
Reverse 9 of swords
Reverse king of swords
4 of pentacles

My general vibe of your cards
The reversed king makes me seem like you're gonna have to deal with a shitty incompetent authority figure for a while. Someone who believes they have their stuff under control, yet they don't, and they decide to micromanage you. I'm sorry.
However, the reversed 9 indicates that there is a way out, something can be done!
The four of pentacles could indicate that the only reason you are interacting with this king-figure is that they have something you want, yet don't necessarily need. Maybe you should give up on your pursuit of this material good?

Let's go I believe in the heart of the cards

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Hell yeah my friend

Your cards (the heart of the cards were not with, open only if you can handle getting bad tarot)
I'm sorry, but you didn't have the best of luck with your draws. However remember that I'm the one drawing and it's my cards, so your reading is done thru me. The bad luck might not be for you, but for me. The site will not let me post images right now for some reason.

  • Reversed Wheel of Fortune
  • Reversed Fool
  • Reversed Sun

The meaning of the cards
You've drawn three of the major arcana! These cards typically govern the major events in life. Moreso singular happenings, than what you will experience in your day-to-day.
When a card is reversed its' meaning is turned upside-down.

  • The wheel of fortune Is a symbol of luck and fortune. Reversed, this indicates that there will be some misfortune ahead.
  • The fool Symbolises someone who dares tread where the brave falter. An act of excitedly stepping out on a journey, not knowing for sure what it will bring. Reversed this indicates a reluctance to go out on a journey, but it coming anyway. (A journey can be metaphorical, not necesarrily literally meaning travel)
  • The sun Is a symbol of warmth, positivity and radiance. Reversed, this becomes something closer to withdrawal, depression and cold. It can also, metaphorically, be a sunset of sorts.

a possible reading
Don't worry, you didn't draw the tower, like I did. You're not going to get hit with catastrophe. But the cards seem to indicate you will have to bootstrap yourself for a while. You're going to have to do something that isn't super fun. However if you manage to pull through, there should be some major reward at the end. All three cards indicate a need for accepting what is coming and preparing accordingly. As far as possible do not leave things up to chance.
The reversed fool and the reversed wheel both indicate that there is fortune possible for you, you will just not have the world working with you to achieve it.

[–] Wmill@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm always used going up against the odds so this is usual thank you for the reading, hope your hang over ain't too bad and your year is something you can handle

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

That's good to hear <3 The hangover is almost gone after all these readings.

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you ever come back to this, ill take one! No worries if i missed it for good

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've always got time for you corgi, your sick riffs earn you all the fortunes want from me. Also there is no falafel, so now I am boiling tea instead

You got some unique cards, it's a 50/50 kinda fortune. Bit of turmoil, some tough decisions, but you'll come out the other end better

::: spoiler possible reading
You become aware of what has trapped you. A major arcana is typically descriptive of isolated larger events, rather than what you experience in your day-to-day life. Some kind of major revelation perhaps. The court cards can also be representative of specific people. Queen of cups upside down combined with the reversed devil there's some interesting things to guess at here. Perhaps the queen is a specific person. Someone who is a burden in your social sphere. I don't see the reversed three of cups as being an omen of social isolation, but rather, perhaps, the break-up of a group? 3 Is at times an initial test. Something that, if it's overcome, will put you on hero's journey that leads you to a better place. The card still indicates some obstacle, but still, overcoming it would put you in a better place, even if the immediate solution sucks. Or maybe it's a card that indicates someone in your life (the queen) will start to disappoint you and at some point you will be so disappointed (the devil) you decide to sever your relation, which leads you to a better place (devil again).
That's of course just one reading.

Let's gooooo

Your cards

Possible reading
In this coming year you might find yourself holding on to something that isn't really all that good for you - A job that pays well, but drains you somehow, a home in a nice location but the rent is too high, a cursed sword. Letting go can be truly difficult, and you might be fearful of the consequences, but should you do it, you will find yourself in a better place, at least materially.

[–] RION@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

intriguing thonk thank you

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You'd think I was doing a bit, but you got the exact same draw as @Sneakytrickyyy@hexbear.net
Perhaps put your heads together and see what you can divine from your shared reading? Otherwise let me know if you want me to shuffle the deck again, but those cards are pretty pog. I shuffled the deck thrice before drawing your cards too. Pretty cool.

Your cards

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

Hell yeah, these are interesting cards. Cheers!

[–] Sneakytrickyyy@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Cards are like that sometimes, maybe the real tarot reading was the @Dort_Owl@hexbear.nets we made along the way! owl-wink

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Here you go trump-feed

Your cards

  • Reversed 4 of pentacles Honestly it's wild how often this card has been drawn. A lot of people seem to have issues letting go.
  • The Moon, Reversed
  • The Empress
Good tidings! If you are despressed, this is the year it will go away. Also you might become pregnant or make someone pregnant.
Check the description for some text on what the numbers and suits signify.
[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you're down for it then so am I!

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Alright!

Your cards

Little bit on their meaning.
Minor arcana (like 8 of wands) typically govern everyday life while major arcana govern larger singular events.
Wands is generally related to actions and creativity. Cups is generally related to the social aspect - Emotions, relationships, etc.
The 8th of a suit indicates decisive action or the result of this.
The king signifies control or mastery of the external.
Major arcana, like the High Priestess, typically govern larger singular events.
The high priestess is related to spirituality, intuition and the subconscious.
When a card is reversed its' meaning is turned upside-down.

Possible reading
The reversed eight of wands indicades a lack of decisive action or a slowness to act. The reversed high priestess could be a sign of self-doubt. The king of cups on the other hand denotes confidence and maturity. Maybe the cards are warning you for the coming year? To not dilly-dally but take action, despite your self-doubt. The king of cups combined with these cards could also be a warning about a person in your life that you trust, but perhaps they are less reliable than they seem?

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

Damn I' have struggled with inaction and self-doubt a lot recently, scarily accurate on that part. A reminder to myself tbh, I enjoyed this, thank you!

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you're still doing it I'd like one reading pls. If not it's alright. I gotta learn how to do tarot readings, someone gifted me a deck of JoJo's themed tarot cards some years ago, tho I doubt it is an actual complete deck, more likely it's just some of the cards.

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only because you dislike fireworks, own dogs and you've got a sick deck by the sounds of it

::: spoiler Your cards, a pretty good fortune honestly

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Thank you comrade!! I have been feeling down lately and getting this reading has cheered me up a bit bloomer

I only read the general meaning of each one, but wanted to spare a few words below:

  • The Page of Pentacles specially describes me to a T. I'm sick of my own inaction, so I take it that this is a sign for me to change that. I might not succeed in that, but this is the push I needed to try.
  • The Reversed Seven of Swords is interesting. The lacking of a backbone part is what actually resonates with me, and something I need to work on.
  • The Nine of Pentacles is interesting because I'd describe myself as the polar opposite, I'll take it that this is a sign things will change in that regard. Also, the part "If representing a person, it usually represents a strong, confident, independent woman who is beautiful and sophisticated and has worked hard to get where she is." fuels my gender confusion ohnoes
[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 5 points 1 week ago

This thread was fun and interesting! Thanks OP.

ETA: Loved the edits to the original as well. I've learned a lot from you and hope to continue to learn together. Thank you again.

What've you got for me BanMeFromPosting?

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The final reading, for now anyway. This was fun, so I might do it again.

You got

Honestly I think your cards are better than they appear at first glance. Check the description for some text on the significance of suits and numbers.
10 Is also the prelude to a new beginning. Turning a new leaf so to speak. Sounds like you're going to experience some form of failure, but from that failure you will find something you thought to be an aid, was actually a hindrance, and you will rid yourself of that hindrance. Moving on less burdened than before. Pretty decent. Or maybe it's something else, up to you.

[–] SwitchyandWitchy@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

thank you! Honestly that interpretation sounds like it could be quite realistic. I'm very much looking forward to the year but I am expecting quite a bit of personal turmoil for much of it.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Doesn't a tower mean something built on a faulty foundation (self/deceit, not laying proper groundwork, etc) or improper maintenance, clearing space to build something/else properly? Alternatively it could be some unexpected good?

Thinking about the Chapo episode they did before the 2016 election, getting a tarot reading for the planet-hillary presidency.

The cards they drew were three Major Arcana in a row. In other words, from the deck they drew trump, trump, trump.

[–] ReadFanon@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sure, I'm down to hear what the cards have in store for me if you're willing.

Read fanon? More like read fan-fiction about the kabbalah, amirite? (Because the kabbalah was something some people associated with Tarot)

Hm. So I have been too generous and gullible, I'm not making good use of the healthcare at my disposal, I have to sort my health out and it's going to be a big struggle ahead, I need to stop giving away as much of myself as I have been giving away freely, I'm likely deceiving myself about how central I am in creating my own circumstances and I'm either to have a big watershed moment in how I understand things and my mental health is probably going to improve? Interesting.

Tarot cards are such a Rorschach test, aren't they?

Thanks very much for the reading, I hate it ohnoes

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Tarot cards are such a Rorschach test, aren't they?

They truly are. Another way of looking at this reading is that it wasn't for what you should do, but what the year will bring.
The minor arcana are generally day-to-day while the major are larger events.
So during this year you might find you are being deceived or stringed along by someone with material wealth (Six of pentacles). At some point this culminates into an interaction where you succesfully stand up for yourself (seven of wands). After this you will experience a rapid betterment of your mental health. Or you will regain something lost, possibly taken by the deceiver?

It's not too bad.

[–] ReadFanon@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, one reading is definitely that I'm getting exploited somehow and I'm gonna have to stand up for myself or get myself out of some sort of scam and then suddenly there will be a big reveal on exactly how I was being exploited or how it was affecting me.

Honesty it would seem very much like this year the cards are telling me that I will need to struggle to remove myself from a long-term abusive relationship but I'm not in one so this doesn't apply to me. Which I guess is good.

If I were to believe in it, it's mostly health/mental health related and honestly it does fit from that perspective - I'm imbalanced in how much of myself I give and how little dedicate to taking care of myself and my own wellbeing, I have to struggle to rectify this in myself and to establish firm boundaries, and my mental health will improve as a result. I really don't need the seven of wands in the second card right now though lol, I'm already so tired.

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have to struggle to rectify this in myself and to establish firm boundaries, and my mental health will improve as a result. I really don't need the seven of wands in the second card right now though lol, I'm already so tired.

:yea: I can relate. On the bright side it might not be you, but someone else standing up on your behalf. Could be they're your moon, of sorts. Who knows, but I get a positive vibe from your cards. I hope I'm right and that your year won't be so tough. The world is heavy enough as it is

[–] ReadFanon@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thanks for the kind wishes. It definitely reads as positive change. I'd just prefer if it fell into my lap rather than having to work for it but maybe I will find a moon to do the heavy lifting for me? Lol.
