Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
-
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
-
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
-
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
-
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
-
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.
FAQ
I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?
-
This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.
-
Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.
What can I post?
- Anything you think is relevant to the mission of this community. Things will evolve over time.
- Topics and things relevant to EM and POC.

Gonna try to contact this recruiting agency again on January 2nd, when NYD is over.
My referral told me she thinks this is a good path for me, especially since they are going to send my summarized resume to multiple clients.
She said "So long as they don't charge you, they are likely legit," and they aren't charging, so that's good.
Let's hope for the best. I have been really feeling like I will finally land a job before my birthday this year (which is in May).
Feel better today not feeling like crashing out 2026 is going to be an interesting year
A truth white women don't like to hear
White women played a very prominent and active role in slavery and historical oppression of Black people. They were not just usually "innocent bystanders who had a heart against it but were afraid to speak out." Not only that, but white women are still usually grotesquely oppressive and racist even today.
When the wives of plantation owners see Black women picking cotton alongside Black men out in the field, instead of feeling any degree of compassion or even having the gears in their head turn that maybe women being the weaker more delicate gender is a crock of shit, they concoct some self-serving bullshit about how Black women can't feel pain.
This nonsense of me vs the weather vs holiday schedule sucks, shovel snow, go to work in hazardous conditions in a shitbox without heat, get yelled at by customers, go home in absolutely treacherous conditions, shovel snow, pass out, repeat. Past few days I haven't even been able to get out of my house without cleats since its an icerink outside and I will not fall yet again, forget that.
The town lost power for a bit and I lost some of my frozen healthier prepped food, so I'm eating mostly rocket fuel snack food which makes things worse, minus shoveling, its surprisingly good at giving the initial push to get through. I would love a sopa de fideo with grilled onion one of these nights, grilled onion is supposed to be lucky for new years anyway.
Dang that sounds rough comrade!
I highly recommend sopa de fideo and frijoles mixed together plus salsa.
Judas Priest, I hope you find some respite.

Hmmm... sounds familiar... I would say like sopas but that's not the exact equivalent
Grilled onion? Well I'm more of fried onion type but to each their own.
Sautéing onion and garlic with the noodles is usually how my family made it, the additional grilled or crisp onion edition is supposed to be for good luck.
atp I think the site got actually affected by the FOIA report from last year, that or the white leftist is indistinguishable from a saboteur.
What happened?
someone reported the site to the CIA or the FBI or someshit cops orf
