THE SACRED TEXTS

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

An attempt at disarming people from activism by making it seem like an imminent solution is coming. I call it the Meidas touch.

for real, what's this thing

[–] Ininewcrow@piefed.ca 60 points 4 months ago (1 children)

.... but instead, Trump lives to an extremely long life and he is elected to a third term even though he isn't supposed to but they do it any way because America is a big fat dumb idiot.

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 23 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (3 children)

He's dead before the third term. Nature won't allow it. That's my bet. He's dropping fast. It won't be a slow burn like Biden. He's too fat. It won't be the dimentia. Dude is going to have a major stroke or heart attack and either die or be a potato. I hope he has enough cognitive ability left to hear all the other rich people he loves tell him he's a piece of shit that they just took advantage of. Unable to speak on his death bed.

That's my hope anyway.

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

Only thing is the genetics. his dad lived well into the 90s with dementia, they had to hole him up in a basement in a pretend office to keep him from damaging himself and others.

That said Fred jr. died of a heart attack super young. However it required a hefty case of alcoholism. As far as I know trump doesnt drink. You’d think that the food he eats would suffice but he’s almost lived twice as long as his brother with such a bad habit.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

I mean, that would be totally reasonable for someone his age, in his shape, so full of constant hate.

But then.. With the level of healthcare available to the elite - Dick Cheney got a new heart and lived to 84, Kissinger also didnt look after his health at all and had a coronary bypass and multiple operations.. Lived to 100.

The good die young.

The others... Need help.

Were the people who tried to assassinate him on 2 occasions caught?

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 21 points 4 months ago (1 children)
[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 19 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Calling the guy who got "caught" even a try is generous. He squatted outside maralago for a few hours then turned himself in

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

"Our brave and responsive law enforcement"

Like, it's always funny when they mention this around that shooting (attempt) or the Kirk shooting. Like, they literally just turned themselves in. It's almost like they are mocking the officers.

[–] veroxii@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

There was some dude in the bushes at a golf course.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 months ago

There was no actual attempt. Some WiFi camped outside his property for a few hours then turned himself in. He had a gun in his hiding spot but never attempted to use it.

But the right wing propaganda mill decided to milk it. For the 5 mins before it was obvious he was also right leaning

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 20 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's all spin, with a collection of villains trying to get as much power, money and influence as possible. There's also no shortage of villains because Americans are about "the bag" and "fuck you I got mine", the difference in their sins is mostly due to different opportunities and not due to being rightly guided, moral people sadly led by monsters. Hopefully the corruption will weaken the empire and their collapse doesn't end up in nukes flying all over the world but a more internal struggle as the country balkanizes.

The BUS, the barely united states.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I want to know who fucked with the monkey's paw. That's the only explanation for all of this shit. What the hell did they want that we all have to suffer the consequences?

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

My brain skipped that “with” and this turned into a banger of a comment.

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

It will be peaceful when everyone is dead lol

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 15 points 4 months ago

Im coming back to this post when it happens.

[–] AngryRobot@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Don't do that. Don't give me hope.

[–] DandomRude@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

What hope? That would only lead to the orange pedophile being replaced by someone who is smarter and less obviously depraved, but just as unscrupulous. The only option is a general strike by the population that lasts until reforms are implemented that fundamentally reshape the system - and unfortunately, that is out of the question, as the current president impressively demonstrates: No crime could be terrible enough to motivate the American people to resistance, even though they are not even being oppressed by force.

[–] Kr4u7@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I do have a stupid question: aren't kalshi& co. simply assassination platforms for this exact case? Can't you simply bet against that happening and someone who needs money will bet that it will happen, do it and get the money?

[–] Exusia@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Sort of yes, you can wager an event will happen and, because this is real life you can absolutely be the decider that something does or does not happen. The whole "sex toys at the WNBA" had 2 cases where the person who threw the toy was also in the pool for it to happen. The platform refused to pay out for these as far as I know, but these people were also arrested and verified and such. I don't know what happens if you wager on a severe crime like an assassination, and don't get caught - but if it's a guarantee to get a visit from at least one of the three letter agencies if you opened that betting pool.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

I don’t think it’s really reasonable to expect to get away with it. I mean, with the FBI under its current leadership, maybe, but it still seems like it would be a self sacrifice.

[–] DandomRude@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago (3 children)

As others have already asked, but with different expectations: Have I missed something? I think I am fairly up to date on the published Epstein documents. None of this seems surprising to me - on the contrary, it's what I expected (even badly redacted files). So is the idea now that there are documents that incriminate the US-President, files that may even be used as evidence that the US president is a child molester and that he is being protected by government institutions, or have I missed some new developments?

I'm just asking because I'm not sure whether US citizens are only now recognizing their president for what he is, or whether it's actually a matter of holding him accountable for at least some of his particularly terrible deeds. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I can hardly imagine that happening in this system.

But please don't get me wrong, I also believe that if, despite the regime's ongoing attempts at censorship, absolutely nothing happens in this matter, the criminal justice system in the US can no longer be taken seriously by anyone. This is probably one of the biggest scandals in US history, involving immeasurable suffering on the part of hundreds of victims. If there are no consequences, if US citizens let this slide even though it is completely obvious that state institutions are actively covering up serious crimes, then they deserve no better.

So, my initial question again against this backdrop: Have I missed something? Is there any hope that somethin could actually change in the US?

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 16 points 4 months ago

The most damning evidence was already out there, this is just corroborating and highlighting what we already knew

It's very stupid, but it's working. It's bringing attention to the darkest details, and the suspicious nature of the redactions is feeding the fire

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 months ago

I'd say most americans are fully aware that their president is a pedophile and a rapist by this point. Some of us do not accept it unfortunately but they are aware that this is almost a certainty. Nothing has changed though, not really. Trump could personally publish a video of him raping a child on live tv and he would most likely remain the president. He isn't dead though, not yet

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

That would be the perfect representation of the current zeitgeist

[–] BilSabab@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

more like Trump is going to imagine that and then get stuck in that fantasy Groundhog Day strictly in his head. maybe he is already reliving this over and over again. this personal hell of his.
