Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

"young, nubile, girls" jfc throw these creeps in a volcano

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 66 points 3 months ago

Best we can do is keep making them President.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 44 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Like I said yesterday: "once it's on the internet, it's there forever"

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 47 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

It's remarkable how quickly the pages that publish things like this or the 60 Minutes CECOT segment disappear. Putting it on the fediverse will hopefully protect it from being suppressed. Torrents are important too.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 33 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's all over the place, now. My lemmy feed is full of news stories about it.

[–] VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Most of my coworkers have not even heard about it. Even less looked for it. It may be everywhere on lemmy but lemmy is very little known in the real world.

[–] fishos@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's on Reddit and other places too. Your coworkers haven't heard of it yet because it dropped in the middle of the night. Stop expecting everyone else to be as terminally online as yourself.

This letter came to light in 2023. They've managed to keep it quiet for 2 years.

Now it's time to blow this up. This should be the first story on every evening newscast to tonight.

But it won't be, especially CBS. I'd be surprised if it even gets mentioned anywhere on TV.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Cecot torrent is seeded and I have it on soulseek.

[–] madjo@piefed.social 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

TIL that SoulSeek still exists.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Hell yeah it does

[–] supamanc@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago (2 children)

My guess is a 'turncoat' in the DoJ 'accidentally' let this one, and other similar ones, slip through. Or they're all just fucking incompetent. Take your pick.

So the same 'grab them by the pussy' that Trump was caught on tape bragging about, but more clear who is was talking about.

Does "short route" home here mean suicide or blackmail? God this shit never clarifies anything but it definitely incriminates Trump.

"As you know by now, I have taken the ‘short route’ home. Good luck! We shared one thing… our love & caring for young ladies at the hope they'd reach their full potential

Our president shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to ‘grab snatch' whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system. Life is unfair. Yours, J. Epstein"

[–] thebeardedpotato@lemmy.world 97 points 3 months ago (14 children)

I will never understand how people could be this rich and do stupid shit like this.

With all that money, you could go find the love of your life, travel the world with them, pay for all the mental and healthcare you need, be fit and live the rest of your life happily with your soulmate AND still even have the capacity to help others if you so desire.

But instead they do this shit. I hate reality.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@sh.itjust.works 97 points 3 months ago (2 children)

We live in a system where, to become that rich, you must be evil.

That's all.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 29 points 3 months ago

Exactly. This life rewards evil tremendously... I'm so sick of it

Money is just an enabler. They're already abusers, the money just helps them do it with planes and islands instead of trucks and sketchy motels.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 14 points 3 months ago

You can become a multi-millionaire through honest hard work and responsibility. There are plenty of multi-millionaires who live the lifestyle you describe.

You can't really become a billionaire that way. You become a billionaire by being a greedy, manipulative narcissist, obsessed with wealth and power. That's who you see doing this shit.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

The people with all that money are the people so narrowly obsessed with money and/or the power money brings that they have dedicated their whole lives to taking it from others. Effectively that means only sociopaths who enjoy abusing others become that wealthy. People with more meaningful purpose in their lives, or who genuinely care for others, don't become billionaires.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 3 months ago

They have OCD, which manifests itself as financial hoarding. If they were hoarding rusty cars on their property, or hundreds of cars, the authorities would step in, and end it.

But if it's money, then they are loaded as successful businesspeople, and strongly encouraged to expand their hoarding behavior.

Confiscate their stolen hoard, and get them help for their mental illnesses.

[–] aesviation@lemmings.world 11 points 3 months ago

They didn't get rich by being good people.

It's another reason why we should always criticize people for how they obtained their wealth. Most of them did it by nefarious means.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 months ago

Pretty sure you described Tom form Myspace, dude got his money and GTFOd.

This article implies he was writing incriminating letters from jail, prior to choosing to kill himself. And there's never a hint of self-awareness at the atrocious pain and harm he caused, just a constant entitlement to all women.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 44 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Assuming it's genuine, it also shows he considered himself a victim of unfair treatment right to the end. Unless it's also a hint that the suicide was not of his own choosing, but that's getting pretty speculative.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 44 points 3 months ago

It definitely reads like "we did the same things, but I'm here in prison and that guy is president. Boo hoo pity me."

[–] Doubleohdonut@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 months ago

Yeah theres already a lot of speculation and assumptions; I really don't want to add to the scuttlebutt, but those were my first thoughts on reading the letter and figuring out when it was sent and where from. Let's not mimic the QAnon approach though.

So far while poking around in certain places just to see what other reactions are floating around out there are, I've seen:

"Who created this AI slop?"

"Written by someone from MSM for clicks."

"Why didn't Biden release this, clearly fake."

"This is worse than the fake birthday card."

"Clearly not related to Trump, but instead Clinton."

Intense cope is how I see it. Could it be fake? Maybe. I try to draw upon the things that have been said in the past, actions clearly on record/tape, literal confessions that are public from years ago, real-time goal post moving, and delection attempts.

Innocent people don't usually jump through so many hoops.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 28 points 3 months ago

"Why didn't Biden release this, clearly fake."

Apparently, this was first released in 2023, during the Biden administration, and just sat there. Perhaps the media deserves some blame for not doing their jobs, as usual.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

“Who created this AI slop?”

Ah, yes, clearly AI handwriting

[–] Guitarfun@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (5 children)

They constantly repeat shit without really understanding it, a lot like parrots. They obviously don't know how to actually identify AI slop.

Trump, Epstein, and Nasser, the Three Pedo Amigos.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 months ago

Makes sense. People copied it and noticed. They have to put it back or else risk further scandle.

I bet Trump is going to be pretty mad and extra demented this xmas.

The article is overstating the importance. By now everyone knows Trump is a pedo and loves SA. Or if they don't, they never will.

FFS the victims have been around for twenty years, and we already have clear physical evidence. One more piece of paper might help with a conviction (good luck getting that after he's out of the White House before he dies), but it's not like the truth is even slightly hidden.

And he admitted to so much bad stuff already, on camera, on TV, in writing, too. Forget the victims if you want (which you shouldn't, but whatever), just take the man at his word and it's all there.

This letter was written immediately before his suicide, and acknowledges his plan to do it. That makes this a deathbed confession, and they should hang Trump with it.

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 months ago

“It might be the beginning of the end for the big man honestly,”

I'd rather skip to the end of him personally. I can't wait to say "remember when Trump was alive?".

[–] Bonifratz@piefed.zip 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Where's the story? All I see is a comment section?

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah the page seems to be coming and going. I went to archive it and got warnings that my connections to the archive sites weren't secure. It's enough to make a person paranoid.

[–] Bonifratz@piefed.zip 8 points 3 months ago

Right, I tried again now and it showed up correctly.
