R.I.P.

I thought he was amazing in Generation Kill and in The Wire , no matter how much people like to hate on that season. Very brave, very real, very troubled characters. Highly underutilized actor.

Absolutely. Incredible acting in both. What a shame. Generation Kill is such a superb bit of TV that very few people I know have seen as well.

MORE LIKE TROMBLEY?!

Ray really made that show, this is terrible news.

I think people are put off at first with the change of scenery but once you realize that's the format of the show there shouldn't be any issues.

I rewatch Generation Kill every few years, such a fantastic miniseries.

And sometimes I just get the desire to watch part of the Christ killer scene.

It has parallels with The Pacific, in that they do away with origin stories and exposition you're already up to speed on from season one and dump you in another unfamiliar setting and that was just too jarring for a lot of people. But, yeah, season 2 is pure tragedy and as packed with details and connections as the other seasons. They write it so well, they make mundane work situations compelling.

David Simon said he wanted to make a show about the death of a great American city. The Docks show how the regular working class have been shit upon.

Have you guys watched the featurettes for Generation Kill ? The casting is really brilliant.

Ziggy Sobotka, for anyone else who doesn't want to give TMZ clicks. The lead guy was played by Dominic West.

There are lots of premature 'Wire' deaths....

[–] mohab@piefed.social 15 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, WTF… I still haven't recovered from Lance and Michael's deaths… I was playing the Hellboy game recently and just hearing Lance's voice made me wanna go rewatch the show. Really unfortunate.

I only recently watched season 2 of the wire. His character was ziggy sabotka

You only saw season 2!? You really need to start with season 1. (Much better, along with the other seasons...)

EDIT: I think I misread this and you only recently saw it.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Of course i started with 1. I’m now on season 4

[–] Janx@piefed.social 6 points 4 months ago

Oh, good. And sorry, reading hard!

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 months ago

Aww shit. I haven't seen The Wire but he was a regular in Ti West films. RIP.

It gets me to see people take their life younger than I and with so much going for them. If I became rich would I start taking drugs?

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Man, that sucks... I really liked him in both Sinister movies. RIP
