Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.

Never have heroes, bros. (Of course, most of us have moved on from Chomsky and Orw*ll after the baby leftist stage.)

[–] dead@hexbear.net 40 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

The photos are numbered out a of a package of 95000 photos.

The 2 Chomsky photos are numbered 65656 and 65659, indicating that there are 2 Chomsky photos in between.

The 2 Bill Gates photos are numbered 50603 and 71978, indicating that the photos are separate or unrelated to each other.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 56 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

or there's 21376 photos of bill

Or there are 20000+ Gates photos and he's actually hiding under Chomsky's shirt in these ones.

Yep, Bill is even wearing different glasses in these pics indicating they are from different time periods. It's just wild that his divorce is the MOST EXPENSIVE IN HISTORY, with Melinda receiving $76 billion. And all because Billy couldn't resist Epstein's island.

I would not be surprised if it's sanitized to just implicate high rolling dems and leaves out the wet boy.

You think? As a euroremoved it is really interesting to see how easily people get swooped up in this story of this dead mossad asset.

Your problem seems not to be the bad state your country is in but some kind of celebrity bullshit, so I guess nothing new. For all I care your crooked politicians could haveremovedd children every day. What difference does it make on top of all the children they bombed and all the widows they create. And that's shit their constituents cheer on...

It is all show but we are sadly not better here, we just lack entertaining pervs right now I guess.

I was looking through the released pictures, and for some reason I am very curious who this person was, who seems to be trying quite hard to obscure their identity:

Also curious about the Gates pictures...like what the context is, where these were taken (doesn't look like Jeffrey's Island), who he is with, or who took the pictures. I know his name showed up in relation to Epstein in his logbook or whatever, so he was obviously involved with Epstein in some way, and these photos ended up in Epstein's estate, but I just don't really know what to make of them. Are these photos of him more incriminating than I am realizing? The Chomsky ones are much more damning. (I don't mean to defend Bill Gates, I hate him and wish these pictures showed him directly with Epstein, or on the jet or island or with a clearly underage girl)

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 32 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Recently - in the past few months - has Chomsky said a word about his ties to Epstein? I assume the answer is no but it's impossible to google because the results are just news articles about the two of them.

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 43 points 2 weeks ago

He hasn’t been able to speak for months, maybe over a year. But when he WAS asked about his Epstein ties a while back he got VERY defensive

[–] LuigiMaoFrance@lemmy.ml 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's suffered a massive stroke that left him bedbound unable to speak circa summer 2023.

[–] DivineChaos100@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Which is pretty convenient for dens/mainstream media to start a smear canpaign against him but we all know they wouldnt do that

His connection to Epstein has been known since a long while before his stroke. He was asked about it numerous times and just deflected away from the question.

Epstein arranged several meetings in 2015 and 2016 with Mr. Chomsky, while he was a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. When asked about his relationship with Epstein, Mr. Chomsky replied in an email: “First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.” In March 2015, Epstein scheduled a gathering with Mr. Chomsky and Harvard University professor Martin Nowak and other academics, according to the documents. Mr. Chomsky said they had several meetings at Mr. Nowak’s research institute to discuss neuroscience and other topics. Two months later, Epstein planned to fly with Mr. Chomsky and his wife to have dinner with them and movie director Woody Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, the documents show. “If there was a flight, which I doubt, it would have been from Boston to New York, 30 minutes,” Mr. Chomsky said. “I’m unaware of the principle that requires that I inform you about an evening spent with a great artist.” Epstein donated at least $850,000 to MIT between 2002 and 2017, and more than $9.1 million to Harvard from 1998 to 2008, the schools have said. In 2021, Harvard said it was sanctioning Mr. Nowak for violating university policies in his dealings with Epstein, and was shutting a research center he ran that Epstein had funded. MIT said it was inappropriate to accept Epstein’s gifts, and that it later donated $850,000 to nonprofits supporting survivors of sexual abuse. In a 2020 interview with the “dunc tank” podcast, Mr. Chomsky said that people he considered worse than Epstein had donated to MIT. He didn’t mention any of his meetings with Epstein.

From WSJ

Keep in mind this is after Epstein was already known as a sex trafficker, the non-prosecution agreement was in 2008.

“First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.”

"Third response is that I made frequent visits to Jeffery's pedo island"

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago

afaik he's losing/lost his voice ?

[–] demerit@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

Isnt he like over a 100?

[–] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not included here are the pics of Lolita quotes written on women's feet in black pen.

Or Epstein's collection of compound bows, which he had, for... reasons?

You can see those photos if you click on the dropbox link on the article. There's 70 photos on the dropbox link in the article, as I mentioned in the title.

[–] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 22 points 2 weeks ago

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 20 points 3 weeks ago

Noam kinda looks a bit like Pepe Mujica or Antonio Gutierrez, or Andres Manuel Luis Obrador. But also not really.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 19 points 2 weeks ago

So if he truly was a honeypot operator for the mossad… is that whole place staffed with Lavrenty Berias?

[–] Wisp@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I don’t think that’s Zach Braff, but I wouldn’t exactly be shocked

[–] OrionsMask@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

It looks nothing like Zach Braff???
