Are you on Trump's naughty list?

Attorney General Pam Bondi is ordering the FBI to “compile a list of groups or entities engaging in acts that may constitute domestic terrorism,” according to a Justice Department memo published here exclusively.

The target is those expressing “opposition to law and immigration enforcement; extreme views in favor of mass migration and open borders; adherence to radical gender ideology,” as well as “anti-Americanism,” “anti-capitalism,” and “anti-Christianity.”

That language echoes the so-called indicators of terrorism identified by President Trump’s directive National Security Presidential Memorandum-7, or NSPM-7, which the memo says it’s intended to implement. Where NSPM-7 was a declaration of war on just about anyone who isn’t MAGA, this is the war plan for how the government will wage it on a tactical level.

In addition to compiling a list of undesirables, Bondi directs the FBI to enhance the capabilities (and publicity) of its tipline in order to more aggressively solicit tips from the American public on, well, other Americans. To that end, Bondi also directs the FBI to establish “a cash reward system” for information leading to identification and arrest of leadership figures within these purported domestic terrorist organizations. (The memo later instructs the FBI to “establish cooperators to provide information and eventually testify against other members” of the groups.)

All western countries had plans to round up domestic leftists and put them in concentration camps during the cold war. Do you really think they trashed those plans just cause the soviet union fell? Lol Lmao even.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 42 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Joke's on them, UK doesn't have the space to incarcerate us all lmao

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 44 points 6 days ago

they rapidly re-learned that with the Palestine Action round-ups lol

Aren't the tories kinda obsessed with prison barges?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 20 points 6 days ago (1 children)

In kkkanada the laws are still on the books, just not enforced.

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Would you happen to have any examples or know what they’re called? Asking for a friend …

[–] Blep@hexbear.net 3 points 5 days ago

Having now done more reading into it. It's not formally illegal to be a communist. What they can do is use the Emergency powers act to arbitrarily detain people (on grounds not related to identity) and then hit the courts with the notwithstanding clause if it gets struck down.

Dear FBI agent: I'm terrible at skateboarding and can't even do a kick flip. For this reason it would be wildly inaccurate to call me "extreme," let alone "radical."

[–] context@hexbear.net 26 points 6 days ago

fedposting adding you to the "milquetoast" list

“opposition to law and immigration enforcement; extreme views in favor of mass migration and open borders; adherence to radical gender ideology,”

That is basically every Democrat voter.

Watch them cast such a wide net that the list is essentially meaningless

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 1 points 5 days ago

The wider the better. They don't have to persecute everyone that fits in the net, but they can use it against anyone, at any time.

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 45 points 6 days ago

Imagine being so lame that you aren't on the list of people they want to murder

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 35 points 6 days ago (3 children)

imagining dessalines and everybody whose ever contributed to lemmy being on the list

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 21 points 6 days ago

Imagine if the turbolibs that made the lemmy knock-off piefed got bagged too just for being guilty by association

[–] Conselheiro@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 6 days ago

If one is in the US, a communist, and not on that list, they should really re-evaluate the impact of their praxis.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 7 points 6 days ago

Everyone in on hb and grad will eventually be added if they get around to it, because they clearly want a registry of any kind of socialist and they can start accumulating information for "files" to just obliterate whoever it is in the drastic minority of us who they eventually deem to be enough of a nuisance to be worth acting on. At the very least, it might be red meat for mccarthy bullshit if they identify those of us who are, e.g. public teachers who they can call fifth columnists when they need some low-hanging distraction from the latest scandal.

If they straight-up started a holocaust of people right now, would anyone do anything? It seems to me like the only thing holding them back is that they think people might do something or that they might lose money doing it somehow. I really don't know what forces would opposite it, especially because the holocaust in Europe kinda' spilled over into countries that opposed it a bit whereas North America's much more removed and big. Canada's not going to do shit, they might offer refuge to American refugees but they wouldn't do anything. Mexico might, but they're in a much weaker position to do so and would need some kind of agreement with basically all of Latin America to do it because if not they're creating a multi-front war.

It feels like everywhere that isn't inside China or Russia's influence can become another Palestine.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 19 points 6 days ago

Gaza was a warning. A test and the world failed miserably cept Yemen fighters. World won't do shit.

[–] GladimirLenin@hexbear.net 19 points 6 days ago

They would have an aerobics dance off outside of the gas chambers so big it would force the government to go into exile.

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 15 points 6 days ago

If they've still got competent intelligence agents left, they should be able to pull off a Jakarta method pretty easily.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 13 points 6 days ago

would anyone do anything?

No. They would celebrate it, or tell us to vote to stop it happening.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 14 points 6 days ago

I think they know there would be riots, not from shitlibs but from communities that would go from being uncertain what to do to knowing they are very proximately fighting for their lives. imo, anyway . . .

Are we back to Cointelpro days?

[–] himeneko@hexbear.net 25 points 6 days ago

oh that's the FBI admitting they are working to mulch trans people. epic.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 20 points 6 days ago

Water is wet. Not operating under this assumption would be really naive.

[–] LeZero@hexbear.net 16 points 6 days ago

Isn't that just shitty COINTELPRO? Is there a time when the FBI wasn't doing that ?

[–] cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 6 days ago

Doubt it. I’m not on X or Facebook and I doubt they care about Lemmy.

[–] Octagon9561@lemmy.ml 49 points 1 week ago

Well the FBI is the modern day equivalent of the Gestapo. People think it's just the federal version of their local police when actually it's the domestic version of the CIA.
