That's e: 155cm and 150cm in normal units

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 27 points 1 day ago (3 children)

General rule: add the digits and times by 30, and minus 30

  • 5'1 = ((5+1)*30) - 30= 150cm
  • 4'11 = ((4+11)*30) - 30 = 304cm

I don't do conversions from feeties and footies nearly enough to remember that

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 22 hours ago

The math doesn't check out anyways.

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just remember that an inch is 2,54 cm and there a dozen inches in a foot.

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago

I'll probbaly just google it

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That is not 180cm, 180cm is about 6' and the green text guy is 11 inches shorter than that, so probably around 155cm.

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

Whoops calculated for 5 feet 11 inches.

Speaking of Nordic... When I was in college, the woman who organized the Medieval Enthusiasts club was over six feet tall, with golden hair to her hips. She would dress as a Scandinavian princess, when she wasn't wearing armor. There were two categories of tourneys - foam weapons, or dull metal weapons and armor. She did the latter. (I wasn't the combative sort - I was there for the costumes and the feasting.) Too bad she was already married.

At least here in Germany it's often a gateway into far right groups. The Nazis loved Norse mythology and then there are also guys like Vark Vikernes etc.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

In my experience, medieval enthusiasts are either one of the two: very calm and chill and cool dude, or some sort of nazi, but honestly, it's mostly the former in my personal experience. actually, it's like 98% very calm and chill dudes. i have met many great friends that way.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 2 points 8 hours ago

I agree with the medieval enthusiast but I believe especially the Nordic mythology and Viking groups (also bands) are different

[–] EvilCartyen@feddit.dk 46 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Watching from Scandinavia it's pretty bizarre to see all these weirdos appropriate our culture. Like, the vikings were by all accounts not particularly racist or race minded.

They were traders and occasionally pirates who loved poetry and storytelling and fighting amongst themselves. They'd go somewhere and settle and just freely intermingle with the local culture to form hybrid cultures like Norman, Russian, etc.

[–] Black616Angel@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 22 hours ago

Expecting racists to think is a bit hard on them honstely.

In a museum in the middle of germany is an exhibition of a shaman women from the region a few thousand years back and new studies found out she was most probably dark skinned.
But try telling that the "true germans".

Yeah it's kinda dependent on region and culture when it comes to Neo-Pagans, here in the US it's a coin flip on if the Neo-Pagan is some breed of fascist or a particularly demented anti-fascist who fell into Neo-Paganism due to rejecting Christianity in some way. I am in fact the latter though I started doing it to troll Mormon missionaries since saying half crazed shit and throwing Odin into the mix tends to offset the yuppies.

I gaslit myself into fucking Neo-Paganism.

I know, but why do people always have to bring up what group is releated to far right and how, it just makes me depressed >m<

Same I thought it said

and I was like "this anon's a pdf file?"

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago

Qt version 3.14

At least she ain’t an Electron app

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 22 hours ago

Yeah, that's definitely some bad kerning

[–] notsure@fedia.io 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

...look at this giant over here!..

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

Just a normal sized dwarf in a giant's world

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Am I misreading this or does it say a 14 year old girl?

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

You're misreading. The kerning is bad so it looks like there's a space between the '.' and '14'.

But it's qt3.14 which is shorthand for cutie pie.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 1 points 22 hours ago

Gotta save space with those two characters

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You are misreading. 3.14 is approximately pi, so it's supposed to read as cutie pie.

[–] green_copper@kbin.earth 6 points 1 day ago

My first thought was "huh, quite the old version of Qt"
