In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, If no one else can help and if you can find them. Maybe you can hire, The A-Team.

How can it be there was never a band called Crack Commando Unit?

The Navy Seals would slap them with trademark infringement.

Reality is full of disappointments.

A very short lived and forgotten attempt at an American version of Red Dwarf

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

the casting department spent all its budget trying to find a humanoid cat, and after running out of money just hired a regular cat and had a James Brown impersonator overdub its lines

data-laughing

Danny John-Jules would love this, he would've done an entire episode dubbing an actual cat.

Also just wanna quote this part of his wiki article:

He got the part of Cat by turning up half an hour late for his audition, dressed in his father's old zoot suit. He was unaware that he was late and hence did not appear at all concerned about it. The producers immediately decided he was cool enough to be "the Cat".

Gonna tell my son this is Fleetwood Mac.

...also could be Jefferson Starship.

[–] VeryVito@lemmy.ml 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Starship was my first thought.

Neither of those occurred to me. I can't even think of a half-assed caption. I'll probably suddenly get a great idea when the thread is dead like ~36 hours from now.

In any case - they really have the vibe of a band.

  • Emotionally vulnerable carpenter from Austria
  • Transmasc who patiently listens to all your bullshit
  • Kindergarten teacher (also grows psychedelic mushrooms)
  • Team Dad with a rich family and a lot of vinyls
  • Team Mom and serial pet rescuer
  • Guy who thought he was just auditioning to be a housemate and is just now realising what he signed up for

Few people know that 6 years before "We Are the World", Michael McDonald attempted to form a celebrity supergroup for charity called Wayward Starship. Their first recording session ran into major technical issues and the project never got off the ground. This promotional photo and some concept art by Ernst Fuchs are all that survived.
