You mean Now Go HBO Max.... or something....

There may be another name change but not back to NBC. "MS NOW" was spun off from NBC so can't really use the name any more. The "meaning" behind MSNOW is nonsense; the reality is it's 5 characters like MSNBC and sounds similar enough while being easier to say. They shouldn't have tried to make it a dumb acronym and make it seem like there was more thought in the name than there really was; thats whats driven lots of ridicule.

The article points out the most the most confusing part of this for me: They do not have the @msnow account on twitter, or even msnow.com domain. Seems very weird to make a change like this without preparing social media accounts in advance.

Who rushed this change through?

also they have nothing to do with microsoft at all. why bend over backwards to keep the "MS" part of the name?

I guess they figure if they keep the first few letters the same, people will go "what was that MS newsy channel thing I watch? Oh here it is, I guess. MS NOW. That doesn't sound right, but these are the people I recognize."

Oh… uh… wow, that all looks very cheap!

MSNBC was always kind of weird, since MS literally stood for “Microsoft” (originally even relating to MSN if anyone remembers that) but now it’s just depressing.

It’s amazing, because most TV news looks extremely cheap now. Fox led the way, with OAN and Breitbart looking even worse.
