Honestly the perfect game to try this shit with, COD was already slop

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I thought we were no longer slopping the hogs

Farmers are no longer slopping the hogs, but Hexbears denounce this revisionism and will continue slopping until the day we die.

Next up, fire the actual coding staff and AI gen the entire game - PURE PROFIT

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

You know that if the bubble goes for like 5 more years there will be $70 games where "vibe coding" was a substantial amount of how it was made.

I don't understand...is the game medieval or anime themed or something? Why am I in a Ghibli fishing scene but also have a drone mecha suit and a weird ass skeleton...this is literal slop, in the sense that there appears to be no art direction, as if I am scrolling through an AI-generated tumblr feed of random "bad-ass" shit.

it is making money for big company themed. eye-catching dumb skin themed.

this is the aesthetic of cvnsvrvatism in 2025

Fortnite is monoculture now. Everything, everywhere, all of the time. A churn of mish-mash dreck that's the same wherever you look.

Legit hilarious. I feel grateful that i am a single player crpg kind of gamer because the FPS space is fucked UP

Not in my imperialist propaganda

I'll bet a whole quarter that if Miyazaki ever comes out of retirement, again, to make a movie, again, he's 100% gonna be accused of using AI to make his movies because of all the thieving tech barons turning his artstyle into the universal bog standard of radioactive garbage.

[–] DogThatWentGorp@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago (2 children)

You know what I wouldn't have called a few years back is just how obvious AI looks no matter how cleaned up the lines and hallucinations get.

I guess in a way it makes sense though? The same way an actual artist has a style you can sniff out after seeing them enough even an algorithm has its tells too.

[–] Owl@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

Image generators can make a much wider variety of styles than this (still all derivative, of course), but the people in charge of these AI companies are hollowed out soulless fuckers, trying to make a product that produces "content"-shaped images, to sell to an audience of creatively bereft upper managers at games and media companies, who've spent their entire careers trying to corral artists into producing interchangeable art so they can be more easily reassigned and fired.

I'm pretty sure that even just being a little less lazy with the prompts would make it better at seeming original, but then you'd need to pay someone to think about something for 30 minutes, and that's 7 dollars wasted!

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The fault lies at least partly with the people who buy this garbage every year. They've been telling the company "We'll give you money literally no matter what you do, don't bother attempting to make an actual work of art" so don't be surprised when the company listens.
