Yeah, but when she says banks and mortgage lenders she means Jews.

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

probably but a woman can hope she did too much acid or something and is now a secret maoist

[–] alexei_1917@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago

I know a very cuddle shaped comrade who says there should be no reason to keep that secret, being a Maoist is something to be proud about. He also looks exactly like what you'd picture when you hear "Maoist teddy bear", so, y'know, I expect that kind of political commentary from him.

One can only hope for secret communists in power. Even if they aren't my tendency. At this point I don't care. Broad tent all the way. Hurrah for left unity. Whatever gets capitalism dead as a doornail.

I really dont think she'll ever do it, but MTG making a Peter Daou like transformation into the political left would be kinda funny

There's something about watching conservatives in truly atrocious failed states turn into leftists as soon as they try to actually solve a single real problem, that I love. Doubt we'll see even one from the US, let alone the entire GOP, but it'd sure be cool if it did happen.

Peter Daou

tell me more

Marjorie Taylor Green would be a Gilded Age Democrat. Against banks or big government because they rightly call out how the Republicans just hand out money to the elite, but she also wants Jim Crow laws and genocide.

[–] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Literally just any pre-Civil rights Act Democrat from Georgia. If anything MTG is a traditionalist in the sense that she perfectly follows the footsteps of the previous Georgia democrats.

It's pretty clear to me her, Tucker and some others are trying to soft launch American Third-Positionism

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

She's femme tucker carlson.

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Femme Tucker Carlson sounds like a tongue twister designed to make you say Fucker Failson

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Incidentally, a friend of mine recently got dog piled in an lgbt discord for saying to someone who wanted to crossdress "if you want to be femme just go for it". People freaked out and piled on her saying that femme is an important word to lesbians and you shouldn't use it that way. She got really affected by it for a few days.

Here in the UK femme gets used pretty much interchangeably for "feminine" and I wondered if this is an american thing or just a weird insular lgbt discord communities thing.

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I wonder, I use it the same as your friend. Like when shopping at op shops (thrift stores) here, the clothing racks are sorted by femme/masc

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah it just sounds like really over the top concern dogpiling to me. "Noooooo you can't use that word like that it is only for lesbians" is really just wrong and older generations are only familiar with the word through "femme fatale" which is never anything to do with being gay.

[–] GayTuckerCarlson@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

im femme tucker carlson soy-cutie

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

50 years... Is this supposed to be a good thing wtf

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 27 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Yeah at that point you're basically renting, you'll never own your home.

Except it's worse because you can never leave to get a job somewhere else.

[–] facow@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago

Nonsense obviously housing prices will continue to go up forever so you could sell your house at anytime and buy a new one for a tidy profit! And if it starts to slow down again we can just introduce 70 year mortgages!

[–] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Isn't this just sort of approaching the chinese model (as told by online comments, not necessarily the real one) where you can never own land you just lease it for 100 years. Except also dumber than that

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

No because the lease in China isn't on a speculative asset the cost of which is justified by your end ownership of the asset. The 100 year lease just means they won't kick you out for no reason like a landlord can.

She's about to be Deeply Concerned about sparrows, isn't she

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago

Well yeah, but we -- as enlightened True Leftists -- realize that not knowing that the sparrows deserved it is the 67th type of liberalism

Even a lot of chuds would actually agree with us if you could somehow present policies divorced from propaganda and aesthetic baggage. The number of people who are actual considered, reflective, true-believer fascists (in the vein of Stephen Miller, say) is quite a bit lower than it appears, I think, especially outside the ranks of billionaires and centimillionaires. 75 years of red scare propaganda has just totally closed off that whole region of political solution space for a lot of people.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

i still think chud media distilling all politics down into a series of keywords that mean "good" or "bad" could be a benefit to us, if you can talk without touching the clearly marked tripwires

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

She's for sure angling the national socialist angle.

i think the best way to maoism is by adding multi-party democracy to the mix, as per nepal's "people multiparty democracy". seriously!
