Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

I'm waiting for the next shoe to drop. Trump releases the dividend not in money but in his new crypto $TTB which - of course - stands for Trump Tariff Bucks.

That is an absolutely terrifying idea that sadly isn't unrealistic. scared

After distribution starts - reporters hear rumors that "a lot" of crypto is apparently missing. Then they report it is missing. Then they report it was missing even before distribution. Then their best guess is that at least a few billion dollars is "unaccounted for". Then they hear from a source close to the White House that the missing crypto is "Trump's cut". Then they report that a few billion dollars is very conservative estimate. Then Fox News says "Trump's cut" is fake news. A few hours later Trump says "I took my cut. I get my cut. It's my cut. I'm the president."

Meanwhile the dems are hard at work making anti-Trump vids where he speaks in a funny voices, he has huge anime-like eyes, and the text on vids is in ALL CAPS. Schumer even clumsily uses the word "ownage".

The Bidenification of Trump continues. WHERE'S MY MONEY YOU FUCKERS?

[–] AF_R@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

To be honest, Biden/Kamala promising $20k of student loan forgiveness and then just.. not doing it and just.. rolling over in the face of mild resistance he could have easily legally overcome probably lost Kamala millions of votes.

Like, they could have won 2024 if they just legally did it lmao

I'll put it in the same account I have my DOGE dividend.

Ofc, tariffs don't fund spending, budgeting/appropriations (eg. CARES Act for the COVID stimulus) by the Congress does. He can't legally do it without Congress. The Congress can 'pretend' tariffs are 'funding' the stimmies, make it appear as if its coming from tariff revenue but it's just accounting bs.

So he is basically saying, 'we took $2,000/per capita (per eligible adult) from the economy via tariffs now we are putting that back' for some reason. It cannot be argued its deterring imports since the tariff revenue exists because there were imports in the first place.

There are questions about whether the government could end up having to refund more than $100 billion to importers if the high court rules the tariffs weren't legal.

This part is interesting because the importers passed on the tariffs to consumers but now get paid "back" for nothing. So it's a transfer from the consumers to importers.

what are they gonna do, vote?

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

so what they're talking about giving people another 2k stimulus

it's kinda neutral-ish thing though (aside from porky grifts), poors are more targeted by tariffs, gets rewarded more by them
