Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Dear Ms. Pelosi,

GTFO.

Signed, Your constituents

To be fair you're supposed to go see a doctor after four hours, and we've only just heard.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

lmao right?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

there will be a lot of heavy drinking and celebrating when she goes. Probably a surge of babies born 9 months later.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 38 points 5 months ago (1 children)

How will she be a wall street miracle investor without all that inside knowledge?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I know! I was worried how we'll replace those Nancy tracker apps...

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Don't worry, there are other congressmen and women who are very successful in insider trading. Also, I fucking bet that she will retain her access to data to keep traiding after retirement.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

In all seriousness, she's not even the worst offender, IIRC.

She was #10 performer in 2024. 2024 was a pretty good year even if you were just in an index fund, but 70.9% is wayyyy better than the Dow, S&P and NASDAQ and I'm sure most Americans would love to have those kinds of returns...

“I wish she would stay for 10 more years,” said one House Democrat from California.

Find out who said this and vote them out

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 21 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Neoliberals don't have the DNC to prevent primary challengers anymore...

We're gonna see a bunch of old guard neoliberala retiring, because they know they don't stand a chance in hell in primary's

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

You love to see it. And I hope you're right. The new DNC chair lacks any cohesive vision for the party, but he does seem to want to open up primaries.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

agreed, Martins a useless little shit. Not encouraging since he was considered the DFL's best. He's all about the benjamins.

The only things to know is that (1) Wiener is an AIPAC plant who tried to ban the mere act of protesting Israel and Zionism on California universities, and (2) the other candidate is Saikat Chakrabarti who was AOC's 2018 campaign manager and Justice Dem co-founder, and actual progressive.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 5 months ago

Fuck off and die.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 months ago

Don't let the door hit ya.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

She's been cut out of the "insider trading" loop so it's now pointless for her to remain.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I mean, insider trading is no longer a perk during a collapse.

[–] Alloi@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

short selling has entered the chat

[–] sns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 5 months ago

Braced for a big celebration maybe.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 8 points 5 months ago

By "brace" I presume they mean "champagne corks at the ready".

Nancy is still a young, spry spring chicken at 85!

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

Duck and Cover!

[–] oh_@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

She should have retired so long ago. Hurry up already.

[–] mracton@piefed.social 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I love Nancy. She was one of our best leaders AND I think it’s long past time for her to have retired.

[–] yunglucifer@lemmings.world 8 points 5 months ago

She made it so we can't have better leaders who do better things.

She won't be missed and deserves no praise.
