7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

In July, the ballroom was going to cost 200 million.

In September, he said 250 million.

In October, the cost became 300 million.

SNAP food benefits cost 100 billion for the entire fiscal year of 2024. However, due to the government shut down (because they cannot agree on health care btw; give you two guesses who want to take it away), SNAP benefits will not be paid out to hungry families for November.

A small skyscraper can be built for 300 million. This is a ballroom.

Americans, you're not angry enough.

Edited to add: Forgot to add! He has given the go ahead on this project without the proper permits being approved.

He is also going to seek 250 million from DOJ for them investigating him. That's taxpayer dollars, to be clear

Edited to correct 100 million to 100 billion.

But wouldn’t you rather have a ballroom that only elites will ever get to see? Hungry people are going to be hungry whether or not they get food. The Elites, though, how are they gonna get their ball without a room?

[–] lividweasel@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Frankly, the elites can take their ball and go home.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago

They keep threatening to do that if democrats raise their taxes I want to see it happen.

How do you build ANYTHIING without a BLUEPRINT or a PERMIT???

I have to get a building permit to change my front door.

[–] bilgamesch@feddit.org 22 points 5 months ago

Your absolute monarch doesn't need those things. He'd proudly state "l'état c'est moi" if he was able to.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 11 points 5 months ago

Right, good reminder.

He started this process without the proper permits, because a king needs no one else's approval.

He actually just let slip it could be as much as $350M, but then backtracked.

A ballroom of this magnitude and extravagance should have an equally fitting name, something classy like Epstein Hall

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

Coincidentally also sounds like the Epstein Hole, which is just as sickening as he is

[–] MummifiedClient5000@feddit.dk 13 points 5 months ago (1 children)

trump funnels money out of every building project that he is involved in.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 months ago

And has never paid the bill.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

He's also probably digging up the FDR bunker and replacing it with a bigger one with guns, an elevator and a stripper pole.

Very embarrassing typo! Thank you for the correction!

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Listen, it's hard to give quotes when you are actively devaluing the dollar.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

For 300M one could build a pretty spiff bunker, with a ballroom on top. There's always a distraction, and there's always a place where the fascist doesn't want you to look.

[–] Sunforged@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Already a bunker below the east wing, I believe one of it's main purposes is military planning. How much of that 300 mil is for survalence equipment installation? Who knows without permits!

Any other scenario where one-third of the White House is destroyed is called a terrorist attack.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 8 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Feel free to call it as such.

It's not that far from the definition considering how USAians view their national symbols - while not eliciting terror per se, reshaping such a thing is def a show of power to the plebs.

A bit like how they carved them randos heads in a holy mountain.

The East Wing, where first ladies created history, planned state dinners and promoted causes, is now history itself. The two-story structure of drawing rooms and offices, including workspace for first ladies and their staffs, has been turned into rubble,

Of course he demolished the part of the White House that was traditionally used by women.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

Because his wife is useless and doesn't do anything with the space I guess the next first lady can just fuck off.

[–] rowrowrowyourboat@sh.itjust.works 35 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (4 children)

Didn't know it was that easy to just demolish a historical building. And not only a historical buidling, but the symbolic seat of power of a nation.

Is he gonna tear down the Lincoln statue next and replace it with his own?

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 17 points 5 months ago

I will personally shit on it myself if he does that.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

I could totally see that happening across the nation. He tears down statues of Union leaders and replaces them with Confederate leaders, but puts a bunch of himself up too "because I'm fixing what the left did to this country's history".

You know, I'm glad he's doing it. It's a great metaphor, not just for the damage he's doing to the country, but also how it will have enduring, irreversible consequences. The East Wing won't just go back to normal when he's gone. We've permanently lost something, and even if we stop that stupid fucking ballroom from taking it's place, we will have to build something new there.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 7 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Once trump is gone they should seriously demolish all of his changes and revert it to exactly how it was before.

Just make it as he has never been there.

Then, in a corner room somewhere, add a publicly accessible space as a museum showing what shit will happen is you let fascists loose

The new Epstein Ballroom?

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 17 points 5 months ago

I cannot imagine the outrage if Biden had done this. There'd be actual violence from magats. It would be the only thing on all news radio and tv 24/7

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 14 points 5 months ago

Lovely can't wait until he (fake) gold plates the Washington Monument and slaps a TRUMP sign on it, he can fill up the pool with gold and then sleep on it like smaug.

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 12 points 5 months ago

Big brain play.

Canada can't come and burn it down again if its demolished first.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 5 months ago (2 children)

A literal traitor occupying the Oval Office.

Enabled and empowered by a traitor party.

The question is how much longer we have to wait for enough Americans to accept this reality so we can do something about it.

He should just go ahead and tear it all down.

No one will stop him.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 10 points 5 months ago

But what if he gets a look of disapproval? Surely that would stop the Nazi king.

Schumer

I really don't care much for America... But it's an absolute travesty.. I'm genuinely surprised that it seems Americans are happy to be treated like utter shit by their own government.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Not all Americans. Unfortunately, both law enforcement and military are mostly complicit due to blind obedience, and yet a widescale mutiny is no longer an impossibility.

The brilliant minds behind this:

Bin Laden wasn’t able to invade the capitol. Wasn’t able to demolish the White House.

Trump, after seeing the demolition on TV, now wants the ballroom on the other side.
