Holy shit he also has a 1919 tattoo? This has to be fed shit. There's no way some dude with at least two Nazi tattoos and a history like his isn't some sort of plant

Edit: apparently this one is okay, see comments below from OP

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 38 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

next week we'll get to see his 1919 covered up with another weird runic thing, and also a swastika tattoo peeking into the edge of the frame

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 3 weeks ago

in a month's time we'll get a photo of his back and it'll just be an enormous sonnenrad

Graham now told WGME that the 1919 is part of a tattoo for "Trail Forest Crew" which was established in 1919. It's a group of people who created hiking trails in the Appalachian mountains

It's not Trail Forest Crew. It's Trail Fixing Collective, he's just forgotten the proper name of its origin.

https://www.trailfixingcollective.com/

Est 1919 according to this image, which is buried somewhere in their website

This one is fine. Unless it's also part of an op. I'm still a little suspicious of the claim it was established in 1919. A google search restricting results to "before 2020" turns up absolutely nothing for "trail fixing collective" so I'm dubious that ever existed before 2021 and that in turn makes the 1919 really suspicious tbh.

All of this shit smells like op to me. Feels really similar to the fuckery that Bored Ape Yacht Club was pulling and practically every argument online is really similar to the same arguments about how that nft group couldn't possibly be nazis.

I'm not even sure that you have the right group. The WGME tweet says that TFC group is a subgroup of AMC Appalachian Mountain Club. It may not even have a website.

The 2 articles I linked were from 2016.

The URL for AMC is https://outdoors.org/ . It has captures on The Internet Archive going back to 1997.

For one though, you should not trust google search results as being a limit of known information. Google search is very bad and getting worse. Websites from before 2020 just don't exist anymore. Old webpages get deleted or paywalled and then removed from google search results.

Also, much of recorded history from before the internet, simply isn't on the internet.

http://web.archive.org/web/20010402013024/http://www.outdoors.org/

e/ on the about page of the website that you linked. it says that "trail fixing collective" was established in 2021 after being inspired by the old TFC group and asks old members to contact them.

So you're right in the sense that "trail fixing collective" didn't exist before 2021. However, it was created based on a different group called "TFC" which was established in 1919.

Huh. Weird. It's exactly the same crossed axes though? Like, verbatim it is the same. And for both to have 1919? Seems like far too much coincidence.

I don't know man these situations are sus and I lean towards not taking risks with potential nazis tbh. I don't care whether I'm right or wrong it is worth rejecting people like this on the basis of suspicion alone. If you reject them you'll never get nazis, if you take risks sometimes you'll be wrong and they'll be nazis.

Never even heard of that one before

[–] prole@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago

Definitely not a super common one, but unless there's a really good explanation like it's a RIP Grandpa 1919-1990 tattoo or some shit it's probably a Nazi symbol

[–] smokeppb@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] prole@hexbear.net 20 points 3 weeks ago

19th letter is S, so it's short for SS. I think it's also a significant year in Hitler's rise to power?

It is kind of hilarious that he replaced it with a dog knot and it's still an upgrade.

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 52 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (3 children)

What does that symbolise? I'm not going to google "dog knot".

[–] newacctidk@hexbear.net 40 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

The thing that is maybe most disheartening to me is that THIS is more damaging than him not regretting signing on for multiple tours of murdering foreigners and then joining Blackwater.

Like the tat is very gross, but the actual signing up to murder people in the third world is so much more vile and harmful.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago

Pretty much how I feel. I’m all for rehabilitation but like that doesn’t mean giving them leadership roles. And like I mentioned in another thread, any shop would help at least make the hate symbol illegible for the cost of a “tip” that pays for the ink if not free. They might not turn it into something fancy for free. But they will make it so you are no longer marked via an X or blackout or whatever. Bro could have done this shit any afternoon. Like fuck me if I had a Nazi symbol even if it was still a Nazi the first thing I’d do when running for politics is cover it up.

Which leads us to the one saving grace: maybe this is evidence this guy is just that much of a bog-standard Yankee-Doodle dumbass and isn’t actually a Nazi running secretly.

[–] Dimmer06@hexbear.net 17 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

The order the oppo research was released in is quite telling about American politics

Day 1: Platner said he's a communist and rural white people are stupid and racist

Day 2: Platner being racist and blaming victims of SA

Day 3: Platner has had a literal nazi tattoo for twenty years

And they haven't even publicized his past comments defending human trophy collecting or his dismissals of PTSD.

The acronym is dubious. It is a real subgroup of the Appalachian Mountain Club, but their records only show that the group called itself TFC. It's a hiking group.

I do think Graham is lying about not knowing what a Totenkopf is. Yesterday, I created a post about him defending SS bolts tattoos in his deleted reddit comments. https://hexbear.net/post/6500448?scrollToComments=false

The 1919 being the establishment year of a hiking group that he was actually a member of seems more like a coincidence. It seems like a red herring. I'm clarifying the information so that people stay on point. He had a totenkopf tattoo and he has reddit posts defending Nazi tattoos. Also he served 4 tours in Iraq and Aghanistan and worked for Blackwater. He's very likely committed war crimes.

Graham knows what Nazi tattoos are and he admitted in reddit posts that a lot of his US military buddies had Nazi tattoos. I feel like Graham is the type of dude who would have got actual SS bolts rather than the number 1919, if he wanted that symbology. He had a totenkopf. He's either openly a nazi or not smart enough to do cryptosymbolism.

I don't think people should overlook the fact that he had a totenkopf tattoo, even though he covered it up.

Possibly one of the worst cover-ups I have ever seen... edges are still peeking out, wtf is this garbage?

[–] Sickos@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago

Um excuse me that's not a Nazi swastika it's clearly the ancient German heraldic hakenkreuz

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago

He's done all this reforming only just now that he's running for office? Oh yeah, I totally believe he's reformed his waysvery-normal

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago

Going to the tattoo artist to cover up my swastika with a sonnenrad

[–] dead@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Graham Platner uploaded another video of his new tattoo. It's weird that he didn't get it changed sooner. He shared the video of himself with the totenkopf on Pod Save America, knowing that it was a Nazi tattoo. He told Pod Save America that his opposition was going to use it against him, so he wanted to reveal it before his opposition. Then he only decided to get the tattoo changed after the podcast was released.

I was appalled to learn it closely resembled a Nazi symbol

Not only is he a Nazi, but he's a Nazi who is too scared to admit he's a Nazi. Somehow I trust him even less. I wish the Iraqi insurgency had FPV drones when he was over there.

[–] Crucible@hexbear.net 21 points 3 weeks ago

"Closely resembled" lmao

[–] Are_Euclidding_Me@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

That last sentence feels so slimy! It feels exactly like a chud making fun of a lib. "Oh, I guess you need a safe space because you've been triggered" type shit. Except I think he means it to read sincere. I don't think it is sincere, I think he's a chud pretending to be a lib, and not entirely managing to keep the chud sneering at bay

[–] CommunistCuddlefish@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

TBH I wasn't sure if you were exaggerating so I looked it up. No hyperbole, no exaggeration, that is a 100% a totenkopf on his chest. Just a totenkopf. Not some innocent thing that happens to be a lookalike. Not some riff on it co-opting it (not that that would be great either). Just a straight up totenkopf.

When I said in another comment,

Idk anything about the guy really, all I heard was "proud veteran" and he was already cancelled in my mind. The only way I'll consider allying with an AmeriKKKan veteran is if they're ashamed of it, apologetic, guilt-ridden, consider joining up a mistake, are committed to trying to atone for their mistake, and say "death 2 AmeriKKKa" every night before they go to bed. Anyone who's proud of being an American soldier is a Nazi in my book.

I was using the word "Nazi" in a lazy and sloppy way to equate AmeriKKKan fascists with Nazis, I didn't mean actual sieg-heiling totenkopf-sporting Hitler-loving Nazi Nazi.

Beyond parody.

Well we've learned that Graham still hasn't grown past the "getting tattoos without thinking them through" phase of his life.

[–] Crucible@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

Leaving a little bit sticking out so you can point to it and go, 'the libs made me cover this up'

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

The “Grahams just a fucking idiot” party knocks it out of the park again!
