i mean they may as well tell their democrat audience to support CPUSA since CPUSA just tells everyone to vote democrat rather than actually trying to build any sort of communist party that actually does anything. they literally just take donations then funnel radical energy into democratic votes

i have some good things to say about cpusa and when i first moved back to the US and needed a leftist org to join i will say the way they reach out to their members and connect them with other local members is a good thing. but then they just tell you to vote democrat.

I didn't read this so much as supporting the CPUSA as supporting Mamdani by trying to draw a distinction between him and "actual communists".

I think this is meant to be a joke and not really showing respect for CPUSA, though mind you that's just because they have blanket disrespect for anything communist rather than even a specific opinion on the CPUSA. They may as well be interviewing a flat earther in their eyes, with the caveat that Sims is right about red-baiting (but they also didn't need a "communist's" input in order to be aware of that).

I'm sort of ok with liberals adopting the "socialism" and "communism" since I can easily hold them to account. Yes I know radlib "anarchists" or soc dems are annoying online, but IRL (and sometimes online) I can easily out-smug them cause I have read a little bit of theory.
