I wanted so badly for this to be code for something via ASL alphabet, but it's not looking like it

thats not how sign language works
While it's correct that ASL isn't English and most signs don't come from English words, ASL (like many other sign languages) has a fingerspelling system, which is used for signing out names and words that don't have signs
I assume that's what OP is referring to here
