Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

Oh no, not Rudy Giuliani! Not the guy who excitedly told people about how sanctions on Iran were working, using people begging for food and having to sell their organs as evidence! Not that lovable goof!

Critical support to the person text messaging in the vehicle behind him.

[–] PostyourJaggaHogs@hexbear.net 31 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They say that texting and driving is a bad idea, but sometimes you hit a major political figure, so who's to say if it's really bad or not?

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

It's like that drunk driver who killed a neonazi, that's the definition of critical support right there

After rendering aid to a DV victim. I hope people don't take the wrong/easiest conclusions from this.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

On the other hand that was according to his spokesperson, so some or all of that story may be bullshit. I'll believe it after it gets checked out.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 4 points 2 months ago

Point taken, thanks.

[–] GamersOfTheWorld@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Eh. If true, that's a good act, but this guy still sounds like awful. I'll put it this way, if Reagan personally saved someone from a human trafficking operation, that might be a good act, but I'll still cheer on Hinckley in spite of this hypothetical good act, because despite it, he's still a complete and utter monster.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh boy. I knew when I posted this, people would be about all the stuff that came before. I'm neither denying or minimizing that, I'm talking about this specific alleged good deed.

[–] GamersOfTheWorld@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Sorry, my bad. Also read your other post. I was under the (false, I see now) impression that you were saying "He did a good thing, don't crab emoji his death!"

Once again, sorry. meow-hug

Wait. What are the wrong/easiest conclusions from this?

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 2 months ago

"it happened after a good deed so don't be kind.”

Kind of like I was telling a crackhead once that a long time crack smoker had gotten sober and had a heart attack. That guy said, "he should've kept smoking!” No, he should have stopped sooner.
