It's always projection. Literally every single time.

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 56 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Gaslight. Obstruct. Project

[–] VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 weeks ago

That explains the name "Project 2025"

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I can't help but wonder if this is how they beta test their plans. Accuse the other party of doing what they intend to do, see how people react, then adjust strategy accordingly and deploy.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That is part of it. It also helps muddy the waters. If you accuse the other people of doing the thing, and people recognize it's bullshit, then those people are going to think it's bullshit when they hear about them doing it.

That was the whole point. Now dipshits can counter with, "Oh when we warned you about Obama it was stupid. Now that it's our guy it's a problem." It was meant to create a mess in a country without critical thinking.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 weeks ago

It's a reverse cargo cult. Postmodern conservatism. Reality as a team sport.

Their news is propaganda? All news must be propaganda! The facts aren't on their side? Facts aren't real! Their wooden helicopters don't fly? The ones in the sky are a conspiracy! Surely everybody thinks this way, they tell themselves. They are the clever ones for noticing they're full of shit. We idiots still believe things can be true.

[–] GlendatheGayWitch@lemmy.world 70 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes and so strong was the belief with Republicans that Obama was going to hold citizens prisoner in Walmarts in Central TX that Abbott ordered the TX National Guard to oversee the Jade Helm training exercises. Insane that he is still Governor after taking action on such a ridiculous story.

The CIA later confirmed that the conspiracy theory came from the Russia and its propaganda machine.

wouldnt surprise you, if they all came from russia. qANON specifically was from russia the last i remembered. remember how social media got quiet when the ukrain invasion began, or last nov and december(luigi). and who funds the gop, right wing supremecist groups, and other far-right govt all over the world.

This protest was 3rd biggest in US history

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Kings_protests

Yet media didn't Twitter or showed crowds before it even started.

Foreign media seems to also not cover it. Seems like all those billionaires owning media are this time on it.

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Aftermath

Another nationwide series of protests, described as "No Kings 2.0" and "Free America", was set for July 4, 2025

'Stop, or we'll say stop again.' (except we didn't even do that much)

That'll definitely end the fascist dictatorship that's taking over America.

I'm glad that many people managed to get together and speak up, but it's woefully insufficient.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

That's how communism was overturned in Poland.

That's also how color revolutions happened, including orange revolution in Ukraine and Euromaidan. That forced Russia to proceed with actual invasion.

The thing that absolutely doesn't help is apathy and "activism" on social media.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

It is absolutely not how euromaidan happened, kind of the opposite of that actually.
Euromaidan had two very distinct characteristics that helped them to succeed - self-organisation and persistence. They had tangible achievable goals, demands that everyone knew and agreed upon, and they didn't stop the protest ever, not when the fighting started, not when the police snipers started shooing at them.
What the US is doing is more of what Russia was doing from 2012 to basically 2022. Series of more and more numerous protests where some random people said some vague platitudes and tried to shame the dictator into disappearing, and despite every protest being bigger than the last, in the end it achieved absolutely nothing. Just like random protests in US achieve absolutely nothing, mainly because there isn't even something to achieve by them.
A protest is a tool in a toolbelt of people's resistance, but alone it can't do shit, you need all the other tools, and more importantly you need a metaphorical builder to actually use the tools.

What's insane is the organization isn't calling for any more nationwide protests. The city next to mine has had no calls for protests since then. Just dead silence. I was hoping there would be a protest that size every Saturday to get people comfortable with going out and organized. But no, we get to happily go to one protest once every 3 months if we're mad enough.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 weeks ago

There are next big one is this Monday. https://www.fiftyfifty.one/

There are also local ones that are happening all the time, you can't find them on https://mobilize.us/

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Which is why your suggestion iiiiiiissss . . . ?

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago

Well, on the calmer end of the spectrum there's things like a general strike or Federal tax boycotts. On the more extreme end you haul out the gallows and support civil war. None of these are fantastic solutions, they all have their own issues, but it's not exactly a 'neat and tidy' problem you're facing. Things are going to get messy either way, they already are.

I'm not going claim to have all the answers to Americas problems, but I can at least recognize what's not working. Something needs to change, because the current trajectory is catastrophic.

[–] Damage@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

Do the protests, but during a work day, together with a general strike

Ironically, fox news created the “tea party” out of the OP hullabaloo and that went on to be MAGA. But billionaire media properties FOR democracy? Mmmno.

[–] GlendatheGayWitch@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

The tea party had already joined back up with Republicans by the time of the Jade Helm panic. The tea party movement started around 2009 and Ted Cruz (who was prominent in the movement) won a seat in the senate as a Republican in 2012. The Jade Helm panic was in 2015.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Cool beans, nice that you guys did a little walk, I hope the weather was nice and you had fun.
Are you going to do something about your fascists in power though?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

as far as protests going, its much less efficient than when other countries do it. its too spread out to matter to people like trump, plus republicans wont do it, they would had a bigger impact if they protest with everyone else, but they love the "follow the leader, put your head down, dont ruffle feathers" type. nobody is willing to STRIKE over this, if at all, the country is too divided care.

the best way this wouldve matter, was quashed last year, with the railroad strikes.

[–] pedz@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

August 25, 2025 : Trump orders Hegseth to form National Guard unit in each state to combat crime, protests

President Donald Trump on Monday ordered the National Guard in each state to create a quick-response force to quell protests and deter crime after using troops to assist with security during immigration protests in Los Angeles and patrol in Washington, D.C., as part of a crackdown on crime.

Good luck with your next protests.

EDIT: I just... fascism is taking root and encroaching more and more in every facets of the US every day, but you had a big protest once.

Their own fear is what gave them the idea, because that's what they'd do.

This is like the grown-ass-country version of being afraid of your own shadow and then stapling your dick to your leg.

It's so wild that Americans are just letting this all happen. I'm surprised we don't have more blatant suicide bombers yet. We have the ones they play out as mentally ill but they haven't been labeled as insurgents yet

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

TBH most people are clueless, or at least “distracted” by more mainstream feeds and news. The panic you see online isn’t really representative of the average citizen here, but neither are MAGA diehards on Twitter.

Same with a lot of Republicans, specifically. I know some who don’t ‘like’ Trump and the more visible antics, but really hate Democrats, and everything is just kinda ho hum. They think I’m nuts when I start pointing out some of the more drastic signs.

Others do, unfortunately, watch a lot of Fox and would say he’s doing thinks ‘for the good of the country’ albeit very reluctantly.

In other words, I’m not surprised.
