So elementary school teacher?

Stupid meme, and as I pointed out the last time it was re-posted, biological weapons labs are absolutely a thing and the science community should be informed enough to know that.

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's kind of a valid question to ask as well. I don't know if I want to date someone that makes bio weapons for a living.

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Absolutely. Especially if you live in an area known for high employment of spooks or weapons manufacturers. If you’re within range of a Lockheed facility, I’d wanna know exactly what kind of aerospace engineer you are.

[–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I mean, yeah, but I feel like you wouldn't just tell people you just met you're working in a bioweapon lab I feel like you'd be under NDAs and stuff

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You would be shocked what people will divulge. Especially if they think it might get them laid.

[–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

honestly yeah you're right

[–] JayDee@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 3 days ago

They didn't. They said they work at an infectious disease lab. That's plausibly deniable enough.

Dudes at Lockheed Martin can probably say 'I work at Lockheed Martin' without breaking NDA, but could very likely just say 'I work at an Aeronautics Engineering Company' to stay more obscure about it. That second example is at about the same level of detail as the 'infectious disease lab'.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 31 points 3 days ago (2 children)

That sounds like a really bad place to have someone exhausted and half asleep working at.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

Second only to hospitals.

[–] blackbrook@mander.xyz 3 points 3 days ago

Seriously! When I put in an order for a plague, I don't want to get sent an inadequately infectious one.

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 25 points 3 days ago

"Oh, I'm against them for sure! But I gotta pay the rent, so..."

Yesterday I heard someone was a "psychologist specialized in disasters" and I was ready to sign up, but turns out they meant she works with victims of natural disasters.

[–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You know, I never thought about a therapist specializing in that, but tbh it makes a lot of sense!

crisis counseling is really fun. had to do a course on it in grad school. there's a whole ad hoc assessment process where you're monitoring everyone at the shelter and a whole triage process for who to give what services to.

very fulfilling work for people who like chaos, esp all you ADHD brains who can't focus until someone's missing a fucking arm

I thought you were dead, Mr Dangerfield...?

Since this is a repost, I'll just repost my original comment as well:

Average Wuhan resident be like:

[–] CaptainBasculin@lemmy.bascul.in 16 points 3 days ago

Where do you work?

Plague Inc, why?

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 days ago

That disease factory is the lifeblood of this town, I'll tell ya. My granddaddy worked there all his life. My pappy been there since he was fourteen. Me and all my cousins work there as long as I can remember. I still remember the day Uncle Chester fell into the centrifuge. Boy howdy did he make a mess!

[–] halfsalesman@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I would be way too curious to do that. How does someone that stupid even function? Lets find out.

Seriously? With the amount of stupidity dominating our lives from so many directions, you're gonna date one of them to get even closer to it all? You must be a masochist.

[–] ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This is exactly what conspiracy clowns thought about covid-19

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 days ago

Fluff text from a RE game, obviously.

[–] deaf_fish@midwest.social 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In a capitalist economic system, you can never be sure.

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

What is a gain-of-function experiment?
