I'd much rather hear about the dreams.

"I dreamed I saw my maternal grandmother sitting by the bank of a swimming pool, that was also a river. In real life, she had been a victim of Alzheimer’s disease, and had regressed, before her death, to a semi-conscious state. In the dream, as well, she had lost her capacity for self-control. Her genital region was exposed, dimly; it had the appearance of a thick mat of hair. She was stroking herself, absent-mindedly. She walked over to me, with a handful of pubic hair, compacted into something resembling a large artist’s paint-brush. She pushed this at my face. I raised my arm, several times, to deflect her hand; finally, unwilling to hurt her, or interfere with her any farther, I let her have her way. She stroked my face with the brush, gently, and said, like a child, “isn’t it soft?” I looked at her ruined face and said, “yes, Grandma, it’s soft."

I’ll take that opening.

I was in a large, beautiful house with my whole family and captain picard there. As punishment for some unknown crime, we had to keep all doors open, could not cover ourselves with anything (even blankets), and there were cameras everywhere, live-streaming everything. The people punishing us had 250k dead crows that they wanted to bury us under, and they just used the cameras to keep track of where we were and they were trying to trick us into getting caught near the open doors or letting them in. Their only restriction was that they couldn’t go inside without permission. On top of that, I was asked to explain a crappy joke with lots of buildup to Picard, but he kept getting distracted and I had to keep restarting.

This happened last week as I was a bridesmaid for a very complicated wedding.

And here I had a dream where I had to fight an old co-worker cause he got into a trailer I bought and wouldn't leave. Note it was like a moving trailer not a camping trailer. Anyways the whole situation resolved itself with me getting so pissed off that I pulled the pin on a white phosphorus grenade and made sure I was next to him. I woke up in a cold sweat and my cat was chewing on my big toe.

Dreams can be interesting though.

At least the dream comes from something rattling around in the speaker’s subconscious, rather than a big bag of statistically-weighted words harvested from the entire world

So the other night I had this weird dream. I was at my parents' house, except it was in a much more hilly area than exists around here. Anyway, the phone starts ringing, it's a landline even though my mom finally got rid of hers a couple years ago. As I'm getting up to answer the phone, I can see out the window that there's a flash flood happening, and water's already making its way inside the house.

At this point I should mention that my parents house basically starts 1 floor up from ground level because it's in a flood plain, so it's not unusual to deal with flooding there, but it's never reached up to what I would call the first floor, at least not to my knowledge. Well it did in the dream, in fact the water was rising so quickly that it was almost engulfing the phone on the table by the time I got up from the couch and walked the handful of steps to pick it up. I just managed to get it out of the water in time to answer it. It was an automated warning about flash flooding, super timely.

So then we start trying to get to the top floor to avoid the water and the last thing I saw before the dream ended was that the flood water outside caught on fire. One of the most stressful dreams I've ever had, it was a struggle to go back to sleep after that one.

It's become weirdly normal among some people I know to give it a name, anthropomorphize it, even when just using it for standard tasks.

Not unlike the ol' red**t newb trope of commenting IRL "I overheard..." or "I read it somewhere..." or "One of my friends said..." and processing to share whatever nonsense some anon rando claimed online, I guess. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Progress! 😅🤢

That's not a reddit trope, that's a human trope
