Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

And go where? Someplace else that doesn’t want them?

Be real, you just want them to die. To be gone, permanently. Don’t address the reasons people are homeless. Don’t provide actual housing. They’ll be fodder for labour camps soon enough, anyhow.

Nevermind there are currently 28 vacant homes for every one person experiencing homelessness in the U.S., many of which are owned not by individuals but by corporate conglomerates that have no incentive to fill them with people, since they’re a tax write-off.

Fuck everything about this. In modern society, housing should be a human right. There’s already more than enough to go round.

e: though now I think about it, what else should we expect from the US’s most famously notorious slumlord?

It's a lot more sinister than that.

He started with the immigrants, because there was a tenuous theory under which his personal police force was allowed to fuck them up and do whatever they want. Some little speedbumps aside, that worked out okay, no one stopped it. Now he's talking about federalizing the police force in one particular place, and moving on to the next target, who are citizens, American people, and where there's not even that vague theory that he's got a right to be throwing them in detention and letting them die of the natural conditions there.

If no one stops that, then it moves on to the next group.

Idk that'll basically be everyone the course we're on...

Not all our jobs are gonna make it through this mess. Many will be faced with a choice of 'join ice or be detained.'

Nobody was safe in Hitler’s Germany. You could do everything right and be slandered by the guy who thought you charged him too much, and now you’re a gay, and thus eligible for Dachau.

This is fascism.

The ghettos, like the Jews in Nazi Germany.

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 28 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (2 children)

Like other dictatorships building golden palaces and keeping their area nice while not giving a fuck about other places.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 48 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (2 children)

Like his planned gaudy gilded ballroom?

The number of people who could be fed and housed with that money should make you sick if you’re not a monster.

He doesn't just want them dead, the rich want us dead. Make no mistake, they believe AI was the turning point they needed* to finally no longer have need of the labor of the poor. And they believe the culling of the poor is the best thing they can do to combat climate change (without any personal sacrifice, of course).

*And no, the fact that AI isn't remotely the miracle they believe it is does not matter because they believe it is even though they're wrong. And yes, the rich do believe in climate change, even as they deny it to our faces.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 23 points 8 months ago (1 children)

They need to be taught they're not as smart as they think they are, and they need to learn the cost of their hubris, just like their predecessors did. These are people who have convinced themselves their success means they're geniuses, rather than them being extremely lucky or sociopathic. They believe this because they pay people to be their 'friends' and stroke their egos, so they don't live in reality. Most people go along, because they're hoping that 'success' will rub off on them, and then they fall into the sunk cost fallacy. And worse, 'if I act like him, I'll be successful, too', so they become insufferable cunts, but they can't stop because that means they were wrong.

For the oligarchs, there's no convincing them. The only solution was pioneered by Dr. Joseph-Ignace Guillotin. They can't be swayed, because they're parasites on society. We're talking about money hoarders, who are the same as any other type of hoarder – they could have every penny ever made from the start of humanity until now (and Elon is so close to that it's crazy) – more than could be spent in thousands of years. But it's not enough. It's pathological, but in this case, it's actively hurting not just their immediate family but everyone on earth.

Think about it: what would you do if you had so much money, your descendents literally couldn't spend it all in 1,000 years if they spent a million dollars every day after you died? Would you just sit on it and try to accrue more?

Most of us, I think, would try to end world hunger, or use the bulk of it in a way that would make a major positive effect on humanity. But look at what Musk is doing with it.

Telling someone who doesn't have a home to move is the most Trumpian thing he's done in... like 3 days?

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 74 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Still not as Trumpian as fucking kids and covering for pedophilies

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 36 points 8 months ago (2 children)

At this point I think we should just start calling them the Trump/Epstein files.

On November 23, 1933 The Nazi Party passed the Law against Dangerous and Habitual Criminals. This led to beggars, the homeless, alcoholics and the unemployed to be sent to concentration camps.

[–] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 77 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (3 children)

Oh they already passed that “~~law~~” executive order 5 weeks ago but no one noticed because they were stirring up so much other shit at the same time.

Man who has done absolutely zero to lower the cost of living, or provide public housing, and has actively destroyed government charity work, has in fact created an entire new class of unemployed people, but now demands they be nowhere near where he might see them....... Hitlerpig is too pleasant a name for this obese, orange, completely inadequate Oompa Loompa!

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 44 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Trump has mastered the lack of object permanence.

if he doesn't see homeless, they don't exist.

if he doesn't see employment numbers, they don't exist.

anything to distract from his child and wife rapist past.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 34 points 8 months ago

Hey, don't forget about those random women he attacked!
E Jean Carroll wasn't his wife yet she still got raped.

Classic conservative mindset.

Ignore a problem or demand that it cease to exist instead of figuring out how to solve it.

They really are like children.

The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital.

I hear they are building a resort in the Florida Everglades, I bet that's where they send them....

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 22 points 8 months ago

They're also building additions to military bases in 20 other US states to act as "detention areas" (concentration camps).

And I demand pedos move out of DC immediately. Actually, I'd like them to move to a new planet. Mars. Go to Mars (you can take all the oxygen you can carry).

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 42 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Nazi Germany started exterminating the homeless and disabled first. When they got away with it they moved on

Child rapist. I’m surprised he hasn’t already issued the national guard to round up the homeless folk.

Trump's apparent plant:

  1. Take their money until they're poor.
  2. Say it's their own fault they're poor.
  3. Punish them for being poor.

When i was young and i saw in One Piece that they burned the area that the homeless people were living just to make the place better due to a high noble visit, i thought this only happens in television. Now i know.

[–] vorpuni@jlai.lu 21 points 8 months ago (3 children)

The Olympics have this every time. Summits for the elite too if it's needed. What's a bit new here is how shamelessly it's advertised.

Move out of what?

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 37 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Every homeless person in this country should have marched on D.C. years ago., they should camp on the national mall and refuse to leave until we get FDR’s second bill of rights.

[–] Waldelfe@feddit.org 26 points 8 months ago

Oh, he (or someone else in his circle) surely did. Make it illegal for them to be there -> they have nowhere to go -> they go to prison for illegally existing -> free slave labor.

Bold talk from a grifter that relies on government housing.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 27 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Let’s keep the homeless and work to house them. Then let’s take the Orange Turd and send him to El Salvador.

I was walking down a street in Berlin yesterday and we almost missed five little golden paving stones in front of a house.

I wonder if you'll have some of those in the US after all is said and done. Probably not, but I reckon y'all need some fucking reminders because apart from fucking Alamo you seem to have awful short memories.
