Serious question. How does this compare to previous presidents? Im sure its a lot more but Im curious.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 hours ago

No previous presidents have owned hotel properties that they charged secret service to stay in.

[–] Bennyboybumberchums@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

So, just like he did during his first term? The guy is a grifter. All this time spend at his own hotels, etc, is to get the tax payer to fill his pockets. Cos its not just him, its all the staff as well. He'll be raking it in, and it will be all tax payer money.

[–] Suavevillain@lemmy.world 8 points 13 hours ago

"The Golden Age." aka just enriching himself and his pedo cultists.

[–] TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 66 points 1 day ago (3 children)

It was the same bullshit the first time around and Americans smiled when they reelected him. Country full of idiots.

[–] opus86@lemmy.today 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It took him longer to crash the economy last time with his tariff game. Covid kind of handcuffed him. Now the full weight of his stupidity will be felt by everyone.

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 6 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

COVID was the very end of his last term.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 7 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Yet his handling of it in those few months crashed the economy and killed hundreds of thousands of people.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

A Million. He killed over a million Americans with his improper handling of Covid.

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

came to say just this

We did this the last time he was president. No one gave a shit. Which is a shame because he’s doing this on our dime.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 55 points 1 day ago (2 children)

he’s doing this on our dime.

Thats why he's doing it. If I understand correctly we are getting charged for each time he stays at his properties because the "businesses" charge the government for whatever security/personnel that have to stay there, among other things.

[–] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

I don't know if he's doing it this time as well - I'd be surprised if he's not - but last term he kept putting the presidential guests up to stay at his properties at a marked up room cost too

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 9 points 1 day ago

That was the grift first time round. At this point, I doubt he bothers with the pretense and just steals what he wants. Nobody holds him to account and it's sad.

I'd imagine he now goes there as he like golf. I'd prefer him golfing than messing up the world. However, with his sycophants he can do both unfortunately.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I certainly give a shit. I'm not king, though, so I can't just spank him for it.

[–] brem@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 day ago

I don't know many people over 80 that don't need a shit ton of daily assistance.

They spend most of their time at home (or, all too often; forgetting where they even are)

When Obama played golf, he was the worst president ever. But when Trump plays it, he is the genius dealmaker.

“I’m going to be working for you,” he told a campaign rally crowd in August 2016. “I’m not going to have time to play golf.”

“I love golf, but if I were in the White House, I don’t think I’d ever see Turnberry again,” he said in February 2016, referring to the famous course he owns in Scotland. “I don’t think I’d ever see Doral again,” he added, referring to the famous course he owns in Miami. “I don’t ever think I’d see anything – I just want to stay in the White House and work my ass off, make great deals, right? Who’s gonna leave?”

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump needs to spend all his time underground, in a box, dead…

[–] felsiq@piefed.zip 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I never thought I’d say this, but in this one specific scenario I’m actually perfectly happy with him being alive too

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Stroke, stroke, stroke

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's waiting for his new ballroom.

[–] relativestranger@feddit.nl 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

i doubt a $200M (before kickbacks, overruns, and whatever) construction project at the wh would even be completed before 2029.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump is a highly skilled project manager he’ll have it done by next year tops.

[–] muffedtrims@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It will be ready in two weeks.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago

It's ready right now. He contracted one of his friends, they're never gonna build it and they're going to take the money.

100% complete.

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

It must be ready before his coronation.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So who is running the country?

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 9 points 21 hours ago

The Oligarchs.

[–] genericguy1966@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 1 day ago

Fucking Stephen Miller and the assholes tearing apart the government and our voice

[–] s@piefed.world 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I, for one, would much rather Trump spend his time golfing than spending it diddling kids

[–] PlantDadManGuy@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

I understand the unpleasantness of the word rape, but really think it's better not to water down the gravity of his crimes with euphemisms like "diddle."

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

As if he's not raping children there. Epstein once even "stole" one of his favorite raping children.

[–] nothingcorporate@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The More time he's golfing, the less time he's actively fucking us over.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Joke's on you, he's fucking us over while golfing by siphoning government funds into his properties.

[–] nothingcorporate@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean yeah 100%, but when he's gone all the money he wasted on golf will be limited... His legislation and appointments will fuck us for decades to come.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wonder how to make an exploding golf ball

[–] nothingcorporate@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Lololol I'm not sure but I bet itchy and scratchy know

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Grandpa likes staying at home. At his age, who can blame him?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

And raping children

[–] Tall_Chilchuck@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago
[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well, clearly they need to build a golf course on the White House grounds. Then he'd never need to leave.

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Or, maybe they could build something more vertical, out of wood, with a neck hole and a basket at the front

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 day ago

Imagine being finished after just one stroke, what an amazing score!

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I wonder how to make an exploding golf ball

[–] rhvg@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How much taxpayer money are trump hotel golf bills. Fk sake

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Bills paid out to him, no less.
