I propose that Colbert from the Report was Late Night Colbert (also a character) in character, and now that he's leaving Late Night, we're about to meet the real Stephen Colbert.

I never understood the appeal of Colbert in either of his incarnations at all. And this is coming from someone who massively stanned Jon Stewart c2010.
