/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Paramount when it spreads the cheeks

That's not a knee...

I think we have a lot more to worry about when our government can elicit bribes in the form of censorship.

But this particular instance won’t affect Trek but capitalism ruins everything, eventually.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Capitalism has already ruined trek like 4 times.

[–] marlowe221@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

This right here

[–] grue@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

"Elicit," but your word is pretty accurate too!

[–] sirblastalot@ttrpg.network 1 points 2 months ago

The bribe was the settlement payout. The censorship is just a bonus.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

If anything, it could greatly help combat censorism.

Let's see how brave Colbert is.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 38 points 2 months ago (1 children)

you can't tell me that the cancelation isn't related to the $16m payout to Trump and the Paramount sale.

I just hope the next 10 months Colbert goes hard on Trump.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Pull a Mon Mothma and make them want to kill the transmission mid-show.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago (4 children)

America, when it voted for its own ruin.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Voted for freedom, but wants to take away everyone else's freedoms instead

I kinda wish that I still had a Paramount+ subscription to cancel over this, but I think my previous reason for cancelling, that it sucks ass, is still valid too

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

But it’s a mountain of entertainment!

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It's a mountain of something alright

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I’m still mad that they weren’t content with making a new and bad Star Trek show but tried to retroactively drag TNG into the abyss

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 2 points 2 months ago

Honestly? Mediocrity. It had maybe two things. I just waited for the dvds to drop and borrowed ST from the library.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

In an ideal future, Paramount goes under, sells the IP to someone who actually cares about it. Can't say it's likely, but one can dream.

[–] galoisghost@aussie.zone 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Maybe now we’ll get Captain Seven of Nine just that now she will rejoin the Borg and the show will explain how good it is to be Borg

I just watched strange new worlds season 1 and was about to pull the trigger on paramount+. Not going to happen now.

[–] SirSamuel@lemmy.world 26 points 2 months ago

Yohoho, you could still watch it

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Aeron, his head shaking in disapproval.

[–] misteloct@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Trump, his member small

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 11 points 2 months ago

Murrow, his heart breaks.

Good night, and good luck.

Stewart and Colbert,
together where the rivers join.

As apes together strong,
before the reptile house.

I'm not a Paramount subscriber but was thinking of getting it to watch Picard. Now I'll just wait til there's a free 30-day trial, or til they put it on Netflix or whatever.

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Picard plots were pretty weak.

But strange new worlds is really really good. The plot, the acting, photography, direction, everything. They even had a crossover with lower decks which is another series, they're hilarious!

[–] GreatAlbatross@feddit.uk 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

PP is basically the Strange New Worlds app for me now.
Sub for a month, whenever the new SNW series is almost finished.

[–] aramova@infosec.pub 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sail the high seas my friend. Yarrr

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Too much trouble, I'm in no hurry.

[–] BaldManGoomba@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Don't have to stress about high seas if you have a browser and an ad block sail the Grey seas and check out the streaming other sites.

[–] 1SimpleTailor@startrek.website 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Trek is dead. It's legacy will be what it inspires in us.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

legacy

:(

We still have Strange New Worlds for now, at least.

[–] verdigris@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

SNW is the least bad but it still blows compared to anything pre-2009.

I'm not particularly sad that Colbert is canceled as he really grated on me during the pandemic series with the incredible sense of requiring attention, to the point his wife was involved as an audience. The reason for canceling him, however, is definitely a bullshit excuse for bending over to pay the Taco Tax.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Maybe that's why they made the Section 31 movie.

[–] verdigris@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 months ago

More worried than about its present?

You're just getting worried now?
