Not left. Not right. Some sort of third, other position.

[–] Rod_Blagojevic@hexbear.net 67 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not left, not right, but right. I am a very serious person. Never in my life have I critically examined the implications of private capital.

[–] Lyudmila@hexbear.net 80 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Fascists love to invent a new third type of thing that's just right wing politics again. They do it every 20 years or so.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 47 points 1 week ago

Even the nazis branded themselves as third position lol

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Because they need to, their position is utterly incapable of delivering anything they promise. Right wing policy can only make things worse for everyone who isn't already ultra wealthy, so they need to keep rebranding the exact same "more tax cuts for the rich and fewer labour and environmental laws" thing because if they don't, even the CHUDs would eventually catch on that the people promising them to "fix" things are only making things worse.

[–] Lyudmila@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, it's absolutely a method of political theatre.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I do wonder if Musk is self-aware enough to realise that himself, or if he was prodded into this by people around him.

20 years? Let's be honest they do this at every opportunity they can and pretend they're just a poor innocent left liberal that was forced to join rightists because "the left are too annoying these days"

[–] Lyudmila@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

I mean, on an individual level absolutely. But there's a definite ebb and flow to the relevance of this framing within national politics. Last time it was big was the Tea Party bullshit about 15-20 years ago, and the time before that was the Clintonite Third Way and Ross Perot's Reform party about 15 years or so before that.

[–] kleeon@hexbear.net 37 points 1 week ago

new party claiming to be neither right nor left

It's just fascism again dead-dove-3

I'M FORMING THE UP PARTY

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

We're replacing the political compass with an n-dimensional hypercube with axes for preferred ice cream flavors, interior decorating preferences, which direction you prefer to part your hair, your preferred DnD 5e class, the temperature you keep your bathwater, and whether you think the top keeps spinning in Inception.

He is an incredibly stupid person, and it’s truly insane how he’s managed to fail this far upward. I mean, even looking back at the history of PayPal, you can see these exact patterns repeating themselves (i.e. sees an opportunity to capitalize on a potential market, fails to capitalize on said market but still gets credit for putting his name on it).

Yet, your average Joe still believes he builds rockets, cars, and is in the lab creating brain computer interfaces.

God, I truly despise living in the west

Ulysses must be incredibly unwell or dead at this point

UlyssesT stopped posting because UlyssesT has a kid to raise which is a lot of work

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

I think they meant because Ulysses hasn't gone on any adventures lately.

Remember when he said his new party will have "centrist" positions on social issues? i-cant

why did he choose the weird jump image

[–] LangleyDominos@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago

He thinks people were laughing with him on that one.

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Less than a month ago he told investors he was getting out of politics

[–] Cimbazarov@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

He missed the sensation of cutting funding for life saving programs and wants back in billionaire-tears

[–] HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He has how many billions of dollars and he couldn't be bothered to hire someone to design something that wasn't just the trump flag

[–] i_drink_bleach@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago (2 children)

LOL. He fired his whole PR team over a decade ago because he bought into their bullshit.

"Yeah! I am a genius! So why do I need you clowns?!"

It's all been downhill since then. He probably crapped that out on a pirated copy of photoshop CS3 and gave himself a pat on the back.

Love the gigantic swooping eagle with unrelated lighting and nonsense perspective just superimposed on the image for no apparent reason. XD

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

it was generated by grok, which afterwards proceeded to rant about how the most important thing for a new political party in the US to focus on would be the white genocide in south africa

He definitely just used AI. He told Grok to make him some super cool flag logos and picked out the one he liked best.

If I was being accused of being a globalist neocon by the MAGA people that I'm trying to grift, I wouldn't say I'm doing a "reset" because they'll just take that to mean great reset.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Someone needs to photoshop elon in that pic so it's the pic of him doing that stupid jump he did at that trump rally

On it, boss...

[–] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

[–] SwitchyandWitchy@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

I need some third way infighting, and with Elon at the helm I don't expect to be disappointed.

AI slop party mixed with the whole Andrew Yang (which, LOL this VC hack is back I guess) schtick. It may as well dethrone the reform party for uselessness.

[–] nothx@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I’m choosing to believe that he couldn’t get the handle he wanted on the site he owns, so they added an “X” at the end like it’s an AIM screen name from 2003.
