I'll never forgive Netflix for canceling Sens8 it was such a novel concept that could have gone on for at least 2 more seasons, yeah the orgies were awkward and I don't quite remember the point of them but other than that it was a great show

[–] rodneyck@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

The orgies were awesome, but besides that I agree. I lived for this series.

Time to watch your local broadcaster and library movies.

[–] theskyisfalling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 59 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

The show is "The Residence" :)

Yea I think so. Season 1 is a nice complete story, so there's no cliffhanger or other BS

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 3 points 18 hours ago

Yeah, it was a fun show

[–] theskyisfalling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 20 hours ago

No idea, I haven't seen it, I just checked the article as I was curious what show it was!

[–] SteposVenzny@beehaw.org 2 points 19 hours ago

Dumb ending but it was a fun ride along the way.

[–] shadowedcross@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago

Oh is it that time of the week again?

[–] mintiefresh@piefed.ca 47 points 20 hours ago (4 children)

Honestly, just cancel Netflix.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

What infuriates me even more is when they keep the cancelled shows in the library with no warning.

So 5 years from now someone goes "oh yeah this looks good" and then loves it and subsequently finds out it was cancelled 4 years ago after wondering why the hell it's taking so long for seasons 2 to come out.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 hours ago

i think netflix also makes these studio sign some kind of non-compete so they cant go to another stream or network to continue said series.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Time to use CBC gem 🔴, NFB and the available provincial broadcaster options instead!

[–] elgordino@fedia.io 1 points 10 hours ago

Yeah, for me Netflix has been downgraded to the ‘subscribe for a month or two a year’ tier, like all the other services.

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 19 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

That's exactly what I've done

My rule for a long time has been to not start any Netflix series until after it's completely done, i feel significantly less disappointed this way.

[–] cristian64@reddthat.com 4 points 4 hours ago

I've been following this rule for about a good decade now. It doesn't apply only to Netflix series.

The are many series to watch; no point in starting to watch one without any guarantee that the series will keep consistent good ratings until the finale.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago

This is a very reasonable rule, but unfortunately I think it also impacts the metrics they use to make these decisions.

[–] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 4 points 15 hours ago

Haven't heard about the show but I honestly can't stand shows about "The White House" anymore. Just ignoring the current fascist politics is unforgivable, so is showing the previous US regime as "the good old days", but even any attempt to address it but still make it entertaining is distasteful too. It's just propaganda one way or another.

[–] redsunrise@programming.dev 13 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Why do they exclusively only cancel good shows (Mindhunter, Inside Job, now this) and keep up actual garbage?? I don't think Netflix has made a wise business decision ever, the only reason they're successful is because they were the first. They're lucky Blockbuster didn't buy them.

[–] Envy@fedia.io 9 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Mindhunter wasn't canceled initially, David Fincher put it on hiatus himself

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 8 points 19 hours ago

I personally think they should have given him a blank check to get him back, everyone has a price

[–] Skavau@piefed.social 5 points 19 hours ago

Tbh they do also cancel low-rated shows too. You just don't care when they do.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Wow, I didn't even know Kaos was canceled. That show had amazing cast and unique setting. Wtf.

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

It wasn't my cup of tea but it was a well made and interesting show, I'm surprised they cancelled it.

[–] thr0w4w4y2@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

I wasn’t surprised. Trans-masc romance is not going to appease the political leadership of the country. Why take the risk of a twitter/truth-social tirade?

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Cast alone should have kept the show running. Jeff Goldblum as Zeus? Perfection lol

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 15 hours ago

Jeff Goldblum can only be a good thing

[–] RandomStickman@fedia.io 15 points 20 hours ago

You can reuse this headline every year

[–] DrWalterBishop@piefed.social 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

It seemed like a miniseries to me. Who's expecting a second season when the mystery in the titular residence is solved at the end of the first?

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

Yeah that's what I thought as well. I guess I wouldn't have minded seeing them do another mystery with one more season, but the concept has potential to get tired pretty quick

[–] UsefulInfoPlz@lemmy.world 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Welcome to the club… we have shirts.

[–] wise_pancake@lemmy.ca 12 points 20 hours ago (2 children)
[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

How could they cancel a show with Jeff Goldblum hamming it up as Zeus??

[–] wise_pancake@lemmy.ca 2 points 7 hours ago

He was born to play that role.

[–] UsefulInfoPlz@lemmy.world 7 points 20 hours ago

The list is so long…

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 3 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I wonder if they're going to start cancelling shows after the first half of the season.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 hours ago

they will do it if gives them certain number of new subscribers, rinse and repeat. only super popular ones get at least 4 seasons, like castlevania.

[–] VonReposti@feddit.dk 5 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Why not go back to cable TV methods and cancel it after the pilot?

[–] cepelinas@sopuli.xyz 1 points 17 hours ago

That's expiration date.

[–] omgboom@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 19 hours ago

This show was recommended to me a few days ago lolol

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 0 points 19 hours ago

The ending was so bad that it made me regret watching it, anyway.
