A monarchist abusing his position of power.

Who. Would've. Thunk.

[–] vortexsurfer@lemmy.world 81 points 1 month ago (3 children)

To be fair, he doesn't have a title or any official position of power. His mother already had him when she met and later married the crown prince of Norway. But everyone in Norway knows who he is and he's definitely very privileged, so he may have abused that fact..

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Heh a royal patchwork family then. I guess as a non blood relative to the crown prince he wouldn't be in the line of succession?

[–] Lhianna@feddit.org 8 points 1 month ago

Not at all, no. He's not part of the royal family.

The royals are quite decent and cool. I'm in principle for getting rid of the monarchy, but this gang is so chill I'm ok with not making a fuss. Except for this shitstain. And the crown prince's sister. And her charlatan husband. In fact, only the hereditary bloodline is good. It's almost like some divine magic, or that they got all the good attention and the others have useless sibling syndrome.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

not from there but in principle i don't care how chill they or any so-called royals are. they shouldn't have the position even in name, not to mention probably having a ton of shit they never earned.

We call him Temu-Joffrey in Norway.

[–] cygnus@lemmy.ca 59 points 1 month ago

It's always the ones you most expect...

[–] Philamand@lemmy.ml 56 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What an absolute piece of shit, I hope his "rank" doesn't stop him from going to jail...

[–] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Judge:

... Something something... suffering from affluenza... Not guilty!

[–] misteloct@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago

In Norway? I'm going to guess justice will be served. Coming from an American.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I hope it does. I'm trying to marry into royalty so I can have carte blanche to do whatever I want. Like eat pancakes for dinner. Or eat pancakes for lunch. Or have a second helping of pancakes for breakfast. Really, just more pancakes.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Damn pansexuals.

It’s always the ones you suspected the most.

He looks like that one jerkface kid Eddie from MobLand.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Thus suffers from the same problem "Adolescence" did; the writing and role is believable enough and the actor looks like they could be as despicable.... but then you somehow don't believe the actor to be that big of a cunt.

Joffrey doesn't suffer from that, Jack Gleeson is such a brilliant actor I never doubted he could be such a massive cunt. But I know he isn't. But he made me believe it.

Like Eddie and the kid in Adolescence both have too much humanity showing through.

[–] M137@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Immediately thought this, but there's something worse about him (which makes sense, since Eddie is a character played by an actor who, I'm guessing, isn't actually a vile and pathetic person).

It’s so freaking weird that in 2025 we still have these inbred families we’re supposed to believe are better than all of us and we should worship them because, reasons. And even worse, there are a bunch of people who like having a family of useless people to worship and will continue to defend monarchy

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 15 points 1 month ago

To be faaaaaaaair, he's not inbred, he's a result of a prior relationship before his mom married the prince.

More like elevated white trash, really.

[–] brewery@feddit.uk 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Wait, the police are going after a royal, I thought that was impossible?!? (speaking from the UK where we clearly have a rapist and paedophile...)

[–] JimVanDeventer@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Police investigation concludes “boys will be boys”

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Only the king or queen (if rightful heir to the throne) is immune, in accordance with article 5 of the Norwegian codex.

The king does have the right to pardon criminals though. He doesn't exactly seem to be very fond of the kid though, and is generally seen as a very just man and close to the people.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Having a head of state immune from criminal prosecution seems to be a thing Americans wouldn't abide... right?

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Can monarchies die already

[–] vala@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

I know nothing about this guy aside from this headline but that checks out.

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (3 children)

TIL that the pinnacle of social democracy has a crown prince

[–] Evotech@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not really. They spend a lot of taxpayer money on these useless, inbred royals. Money that should instead go to the people.

Basically irl Joffrey Baratheon

[–] modifier@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

Based on the photo yes. The reality is a bit more nuanced and interesting if you ask me.

[–] ProfThadBach@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Dude looks like the personification if fetal alcohol syndrome.

People are surprised monarchs are rapists. Centuries of inbreeding do not produce healthy minds.

[–] Grizzlyboy@lemmy.zip 43 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Just FYI, he is the crown princess’s son, from before she was married to the crown prince. He isn’t part of the royal family or their blood line. He’s just a pos stain that won’t take responsibility for his actions or life. He’s a sad sad person.

[–] Uff@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Confirmed bastard in every sense then.

[–] Maalus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

... No? That is not how a bastard works. She married into the royal family but had a kid before. A bastard would be her having an affair and giving birth to a kid while married into the family already. Or the prince fathering a kid with someone else other than the wife. This is just "a kid from a previous marriage / relationship".

[–] vaguerant@fedia.io 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That is not how a bastard works. To be clear, all of this is archaic, I'm not actually calling anybody a bastard, but the definition of bastard is "a child born to parents who are not married to each other." He matches that definition because his parents were never married.

Affairs don't come into it, it's just some old bullshit cultural and religious ideals about which types of relationships (just the one: heterosexual marriages) children are "supposed" to be born into.

Everyone knows that the crown princess of Norway is a HUGE whore

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Generational wealth and power, does not produce healthy minds.

The inbreeding was a side effect of an already broken system.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Guillotines bruh. For all royalty, including those elected.

[–] Lon3star@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)
[–] Deestan@lemmy.world 64 points 1 month ago

Keep in mind he is literally a child of the unprivileged commoners, so poking at his origins or genetics is not "punching up". His mom is from a lower class family with drug and alcohol abuse problems, and she had him before meeting the prince.

Just poke at his personality or actions. There's plenty there.

Stepson. Not a born royal, nor one that the royal family accepts as one of their own. Nobody seems to like him.

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I was wondering what is Eddie Harrigan up to before season 2!

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Dude fuckin looks like Eddie from Mobland.

Acts like it too, apparently.
