Seriously, what’s the advantage of having social media? Just seems like a liability with every account.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 10 points 3 hours ago

If you don’t have social media you must be “hiding” something and will be denied entry.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 hours ago

Make a fake one that posts like... idk post random tech stuff that you could be reasonably interested in. Make nothing critical of authority. As a decoy profile.

Then you can rant about big brother on an anonymous Lemmy Account over TOR.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

But sir, the form only has space for four!

My US visa officer: what do you mean you did not have 'social' media accounts in 5 years? No, these weird sites don't count. Underground terrorist? Straight to gulag.

"I don't use social media"

[–] Samsy@lemmy.ml 18 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Sure why not, since my name is Anthony O'Neill. You can find my short form username: Anon.

What could they find? I bet I'm save.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 hours ago

I'm betting on the opposite problem,

We show here you've been VERY active. Please have a seat in this chair until we come for you.

Yes, what possible community full of people named "Anon" could they find that would get you in any amount of trouble?

Oh well, I wouldn't have been welcome anyway, seeing I've had the audacity to be critical of Israeli ~~genocide~~ defense, TACO and Daddy Put-it-in.

Guess I'll go spend my tourist money elsewhere.

This is why I’ve already deleted basically everything, social media is a cancer that pushes us further and further apart and replaces meaningful interactions with vapid and shallow counterfeit interactions, it’s a net loss for anyone using it at this point.

Meanwhile, you post here :P

"Have you ever attempted to overthrow a government by force or violence?"

Non-Citizen MAGAt: sweats profusely

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

"Why? Is the CIA hiring?"

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

No, we were actually liberating it from oppression.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

I don't think that matters.

It doesn't matter if you are trying to overthrow, say a US Adversary like Russia or China, its still counts. I guess the logic is: If you are willing to use violence in [Insert Country Here], how do we know you wont try it here?

A lot of the initial supporters of a revolution/coup gets purged so they don't become a threat to the new authority themselves. Like hitler and the S.A. for example.

MAGAt supporters are just useful idiots, if they successfully fully take over, those same supporters now become the new threat that needs to be purged.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

if they successfully fully take over, those same supporters now become the new threat

Quite a few of the current crop of deputized ICE agents are MAGA goons from four years ago. So long as you're actively doing the gruesome work of ethnic cleansing, you'll be given a pass.

[–] ubergeek@lemmy.today 5 points 5 hours ago

Good luck. NYS couldn't even keep track of this requirement just for CCW permits.

Who TF wants to set foot in that shithole banana republic anyway?
Stuff your visa, and return the favor and stay TF out of other people's countries.
That would be a welcome change.

Every social media username? I figure most people are like me and lost most of them.

I mean they make you sign away your rights and tell them if you’ve ever been affiliated with any one who was in or if you joined a communist party. So this is just another layer on the shit cake.

I guess we can finally get clarification on whether or not forums are social media.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 8 hours ago (18 children)

hey turns out our tech oligarchs are the ones spying on us and not the chinese, what a twist!
