Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

prosecutors wrote “This brutal, cowardly murder was the mechanism that defendant chose to bring on that revolution.”

lmao yeah the coolest and bravest thing an American has done in decades is cowardly. These ghouls are so full of shit about literally everything they do, just lie and grift everyday

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 84 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Remember when hasbara tried to convince the world that footage of Sinwar dying heroically in battle on the frontlines, fighting to his last dying breath, made him look like a coward? They leaked the footage because they thought it made him look bad!

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 29 points 3 days ago

Tbf Liberals don't have their own opinions, they just conform to the most popular opinion.

[–] BanSwitch2Buyers@hexbear.net 60 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Cowardly just means bad to normies and propagandists. Not gunna' link it, but I think there was a clip of Bill Maher saying the 9/11 attackers weren't being cowardly and arguing with someone over that.

[–] darkcalling@hexbear.net 35 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Literally got him cancelled off ABC too over that. It was Dinesh D'souza who wasn't disagreeing very strongly if at all if I recall. His show was I think called "politically incorrect" and in that case it definitely was.

The real bravery is letting millions suffer and die needlessly so your bank account can accrue extra 0s.

[–] TheLepidopterists@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

The modern Westerner feels a need to ascribe exclusively negative traits to any perceived enemy.

You'd think it only applies to moral traits, but if you think someone is bad, they are incapable of being diligent, brave, clever, funny, a good driver, handy with excel, or even punctual. It's so tiring.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 129 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

They wrote this article trying to make him look bad lmao. They have learned nothing.

He wrote about plans to “wack the CEO at the annual parasitic bean-counter convention”

Spitting straight fire.

Mangione “demonstrated in his manifesto that he was a revolutionary anarchist who would usher in a better healthcare system by killing the CEO” of one of the biggest U.S. companies, prosecutors wrote.

No... He did not? That's not the manifesto I read, nothing about anarchism or revolution at all.

[–] dead@hexbear.net 70 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The first sentence of the Luigi manifesto says that he respects the work done by federal investigators. The opposite of what an anarchist would say.

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago

prosecutors probably only know anarcho-liberals and call actual anarchists tankies

Also he literally did that lmao, everyone who was suddenly approved by insurance in the wake of the execution technically had a better healthcare system ushered in for them by Luigi Mangione.

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 38 points 3 days ago

assuming he did it, Lets be very clear Luigi did not kill him. Whoever the hero was who killed that CEO temporarily got healthcare companies to pretend to do the thing they promise to do, and also showed maybe the US could be convenced that the system is awful

Actually anarchism is when there are no rules and no one can tell me what to do. I read it on the internet so it must be true.

[–] ANarcoSnowPlow@hexbear.net 26 points 3 days ago

Can confirm, I'm an Internet.

"demonstrated" doing some backbreaking lifting there because it clearly didn't "say" any of that shit

[–] GladimirLenin@hexbear.net 53 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I hope they find the real killer, i'd like to give them a firm handshake. In the meantime, let this poor innocent man go, he's done nothing wrong.

[–] FishLake@lemmygrad.ml 96 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (4 children)

Uh, yeah. When Luigi and Is were standing in his grandmama’s kitchen eating rigatoni in ours white tank tops and slacks with belts up to our fucking bellybuttons watching the manhunt on a tiny black and white TV he saids that. I saids to him, “Bada bing,” and he agreed.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 61 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I fail to see how the victim absolutely deserving it has any bearing on the guilt or innocence of the accused.

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 24 points 3 days ago

the only victim here is luigi, who didn't do it. justified killing isn't murder and has no victim.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 47 points 3 days ago
[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 75 points 3 days ago

Yeah, he had it coming.

Go on, pin it on me - a random Australian

[–] buh@hexbear.net 74 points 3 days ago (1 children)

i hope brian thompson dies

i know he's dead alread,y but he deserves to go through it again. and again and again, etc

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 73 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm a fair person. He only deserves to die once per person his policies killed.

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 23 points 3 days ago

Look hell had to create a whole new circle for him and other health care execs

[–] Bronstein_Tardigrade@lemmygrad.ml 38 points 3 days ago (2 children)

So what, 300 million other people have also said, "he had it coming."

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

More and more people are saying it

Count many of us out of the country looking in. Really these health CEOs are criminals

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 59 points 3 days ago (2 children)

yeah Luigi didn't do it, we were talking bout "the adjuster" like the day after. well i was, and i had to explain the 3 D's to him like 5 times. i think it's mostly he wasn't really listening, he was looking at tiktok or some shit n kept saying "3 Ds? more like D's Nuts!" over and over

honestly annoying, probably won't hang out with him again

I remembered that video coming out and the guy who did it was so fucking nice with it. It'd be crazy to me that some guy was just able to do that as a first try

The prosecutors also had every cop in NYC perp walk the dude and surely were aware of the broken chain of evidence on the backpack so I'm not inclined to believe anything they say

[–] KnilAdlez@hexbear.net 58 points 3 days ago

So did 99% of the nation, gonna arrest them too?

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 51 points 3 days ago (1 children)

...according to prosecutors.

Was this recorded then?

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 32 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Probably not, my guess is he did not say it, but they are trying to use this to plant evidence and poison any jury pool, and TRY to make him guilty in the court of public opinion.

This might be blind optomism, but they might be worried about what happens if they win, if the public is still on his side

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 18 points 3 days ago

I think they might be more worried what would happen if they lose

We should do what all sensible people do with treasure: bury it on a deserted island and seal the only copy of the map in a bottle and toss it into the sea.
