The rainbow flag or pride flag is a symbol of LGBT pride and LGBT social movements. The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender. Using a rainbow flag as a symbol of LGBT pride began in San Francisco, California, but eventually became common at LGBT rights events worldwide.

Originally devised by the artists Gilbert Baker, Lynn Segerblom, James McNamara and other activists, the design underwent several revisions after its debut in 1978, and continues to inspire variations. Although Baker's original rainbow flag had eight colors, from 1979 to the present day the most common variant consists of six stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. The flag is typically displayed horizontally, with the red stripe on top, as it would be in a natural rainbow.

LGBT people and allies currently use rainbow flags and many rainbow-themed items and color schemes as an outward symbol of their identity or support. There are derivations of the rainbow flag that are used to focus attention on specific causes or groups within the community (e.g. transgender people, fighting the AIDS epidemic, inclusion of LGBT people of color). In addition to the rainbow, many other flags and symbols are used to communicate specific identities within the LGBT community.

Sometimes I hide in my kitchen and eat ice cream because I don't want to be swarmed by my cats and have to share.

Also, are people still doing the "says a lot about you/your internet browsing habits" in response to the fucking awful shit being forced on us via ads, recommendations, etc. on the internet?

'cause that was never true and it seemingly even less than true now.

If "the algorithm" knew me at all it'd be showing me CRTs, women in anime plugsuit outfits, and 45 minute gameplay-centric analyses on games and PAX talks titled "episodes where the Pokemon animรฉ got weird". Instead all I'm getting is "communism is evil" YouTube videos and AliExpress ads for LED lights and women's yoga pants.

[โ€“] BanSwitch2Buyers@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And before any of you cretins try to argue: the difference between a yoga pant and a plugsuit is so great in both form and function that it doesn't even need to be elaborated upon.

While much less well known than it's sister statue, the Oaf of Willendorf is an important part of the archeological puzzle depicting a figure that appears to be in mid-trip with pants falling down biden-fall

Noticing a really interesting phenomena online lately

โ€œRage baitโ€

Maybe Iโ€™m just getting old, but it used to be that if someone was being purposefully obtuse/obnoxious/incorrect, youโ€™d dismiss them as a troll and move on. Much easier

The internet really is dying. I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if this is engagement farming from bots. I need to meet people irl despite the fact that I donโ€™t trust most people irl because more often than not, theyโ€™re hell

I had a weird dream where the singer from Metric (Canadian band) was on a tour with a problematic musician that I canโ€™t remember now. My friends and I went but shook our heads the entire time so everyone knows we disagreed.

Gahd damn I'm so sick of this. The power coursing though my veins is like lightning and I'm stuck dealing with my dumbass boss. My mind extends infinitely in all directions, yet I am stuck fiddling with hyper parameters on a fruitless project because my fucking boss DOESNT UNDERSTAND STATISTICS. WHY ARE WE FUCKING WITH AI THEN??? WHY DID YOU HIRE ME JUST TO NOT LISTEN??? Fucking Christ I can't stand wasting my time like this.

So, I'd like to do some writing, and I'm aware that Substack has been overly accommodating to literal nazis, so I probably shouldn't support Substack. But where WOULD be a good place to publish longer essays?

There's an amazing vegan restaurant in Dublin called the Saucy Cow, and honestly I don't know what alchemy they do there but the food is incredible. If you took a meat-eater and gave them a burger with cheese from this place they wouldn't even know they were eating a vegan meal

Jonathan Joss, 'King of the Hill' voice actor, killed in San Antonio shooting - NBC NEWS

The 59-year-old actor, best known as the voice of John Redcorn in the hit animated series, died Sunday, police said. Jonathan Joss, the voice actor best known as John Redcorn from "King of the Hill," was killed in a San Antonio shooting on Sunday, police said.

A suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was taken into custody and booked on a murder charge, the San Antonio Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched to Dorsey Drive around 7 p.m. Sunday for a shooting and arrived to find the actor, whose legal name is Jonathan Joss Gonzales, near the roadway after he was shot, police said. Authorities attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived and pronounced Joss, 59, dead.

Joss was the voice of John Redcorn in the Fox animated series from seasons 2 through 13. John Redcorn was a โ€œNew Age healerโ€ and masseur, who was always addressed by his full name or "Mr. Redcorn."

A new season of "King of the Hill" revival is set to debut on Hulu in August. In a credit sequence shared Friday, John Redcorn is seen driving by in his classic tan Jeep.

Joss also played Ken Hotate in "Parks and Recreation" and had roles in "Tulsa King" and the 2016 remake of "The Magnificent Seven." His most recent acting credit was in 2023 for voicing a character in the "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty" video game.

Joss' family home in San Antonio was destroyed in a fire in January. An online fundraiser stated three of his dogs had been killed in the fire and raised more than $10,000. Joss told local reporters then that he did not have a job. Representatives and family of Joss could not immediately be reached for comment
