Trump thinks that receiving fiat currency is more valuable than material goods.

It's obvious that Trump has no concept of economics, it's unfortunate that most americans don't either

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Most people understand that less cargo means less treats. Trump doesn't understand this because he'll remain one of the few who retains the ability to get treats. He has never gone without.

Jesus, that's the answer, isn't it? We've got to stage a hostile takeover of mcdonalds and then make all locations deny service to him.

I’m interested how they’re gonna justify people losing their jobs, admittedly it will probably be something simple like “those jobs weren’t necessary”.

“A nation is not made wealthy by the childish accumulation of shiny metals, but it enriched by the economic prosperity of its people.”

Not even shiny metals anymore, just electronic numbers you yourself create.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 25 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They should just sit Trump down at a computer open to a page labeled “America Money” and it’s just a quadrillion dollar counter continuously ticking up

[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

An old Geocities hit counter, but with a dollar sign in front of it

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I miss hit counters.

Years ago, I was having a dispute with a business partner, whonturned out to be a criminal, so I told the story on my company website, with a hit counter on the page. The higher the hit counter went, the more desperate this guy got. Eventually he decided to settle, primarily because that hit counter was showing him daily how many more people knew he was a criminal shithead.

The hit counter:

and a blinking "Under Construction" sign

At the top of the hour I sometimes watch cable news. But if they are talking about Trump's moronic trade war seriously - I have to close the tab. I can't even hate watch. "I wonder what he's hoping to accomplish."

Well...

[–] dead@hexbear.net 41 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This morning at 10 am, Trump announced completing his first trade deal. It was with TERF Island. He spoke over the phone with Kid Starver and then he took questions from the press.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 38 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'll paraphrase a soundbite I heard yesterday on MSNBC. Emphasis mine.

The easiest trade deal Trump can make is probably going to be with the UK... Because US-UK trade involves a lot of services... And Trump doesn't seem to care about services.

---

I almost started laughing. I should have expected that President Jellybean Brain might not even understand what "services" are or why they are valuable. What are they even? They aren't on ships and they aren't in shipping containers.

You can't ship a haircut across the ocean. a-little-trolling

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 38 points 3 days ago (1 children)

they going to steal our precious numbers and paper in exchange for their treats and toys

we must protect those precious numbers and papers

[–] blunder@hexbear.net 27 points 2 days ago

Look how much we paid for these goods! We're getting ripped off, we need to get all that money back! Then we could buy anything! Even goods!

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 35 points 3 days ago

You known that marx quote about the less you enjoy your life the greater the capital you hold? Trump read that part wrong.

[–] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 39 points 3 days ago (1 children)

whose going to tell him that those same boats also take american goods and sell them to other countries

Somehow is going to be Biden’s fault

[–] dead@hexbear.net 62 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

I'm going to say this very nicely because I think Hexbear should invite new people to learn about Socialism.

We don't support Biden here. This is a Marxist and Anarchist website.

The US economy was headed towards collapse no matter whether Republicans or Democrats won the presidency. The US economy has been built around short term profit seeking for decades. Once China's economy outgrew the US economy, the US went into meltdown because they want to remain as the global hegemon. In September 2024, the US congress passed 25 anti-China bills in 1 week.

Xi Jinping came to the US/California during Biden's presidency, October 2023. Even Gruesome Newsom was friendly towards China and presented Xi with gifts. Biden told the press immediately after the meeting that Xi is a "dictator" and was hostile towards China. Biden's own cabinet expressed disappointment with how Biden acted. This is as much Biden's fault as it is Trump's fault and also the fault of every previous US president going back decades.

In September 2024, Biden's administration put a 100% tariff on Electric vehicles from China and a 50% tariff on solar panels.

[–] ProletarianDictator@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is all true, but like Trump's tariffs definitely made this so much worse. US basically saying they will unilaterally blow up trade relations on a whim. Can't imagine a worse footgun moment for American leadership.

[–] Antiwork@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Honestly this is once again big win for the global south. It was terrifying when he was going to just stop trade globally, now it’s pretty much just an own goals. I’m here for it

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

i think they meant that Trump will blame everything on Biden

[–] dead@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

I get that. I interpreted the tone of the post to be sarcastic. Maybe I've been reading too many Democrat posts on twitter or reddit. Maybe my post didn't need to have the first 2 lines. The second line of my post maybe implied that they support Biden and maybe I interpreted that incorrectly.

The point that I wanted to express is that I genuinely believe that Biden and Democrats are equally to blame for the current state of the economy. The second point I wanted to make is that if Biden or Kamala would have won the election, I believe that they would have made very similar or same policy decisions to Trump. Kamala ran campaign ads that said she was going to be harsher on the border than Trump. Biden/Kamala staffers went on Israeli television to say that they secretly never planned to have a ceasefire in Gaza. Tariffs and anti-China policies are bipartisan. When the media recently asked Democrat politicians about tariffs, they would only say that tariffs should be more precise and not that they oppose the use. I think Kamala would have also placed tariffs on China and maybe other countries.

Another theory I have is that Democrats wanted Trump to win. In much of Kamala's campaign, she did the exact opposite of what she was told to do by polling and campaign advisors. Kamala sent Bill Clinton to Dearborn Michigan to tell the Muslim voters that West Bank was called Judea and Samaria. She lost every swing state. By letting Trump win, Trump takes the blame for US losing global hegemon status, Trump takes the blame for the genocide that Biden enabled in Gaza, Trump takes the blame for suppressing the anti-Zionist protestors that the Democrats also hate, Trump takes the blame for enacting anti-China policies that Democrats also want to do, Trump takes the blame for migrant deportations which Kamala campaigned on doing, etc. Democrat politicians secretly like the things that Trump is doing, so they just sit back and collect donations while he takes the heat. It's like how Roe V Wade was overturned in the first half of Biden's presidency and then he literally did nothing about it because Biden is against abortion.

The plane is crashing and Democrats don't know how to fly, so they let Republicans take the pilot seat.

Kind of an ongoing game of economic russian roulette tbh, 1 presidency = 1 chamber
