Oh dang this OST looks pretty nice, let me acquire it by totally legal means real quick.. done.
The game itself looks very pretty but pretty bland setting/story/character wise tho, some of the comments/reviews are confirming this, that's a dang shame if true.
I played it last year, and I found the narrative charming and emotionally resonant. The setting is bland, ok, sure. But the interactions between the characters and the general vibe of the writing was of a very particular style that really worked for me, after I realized the game doesn't take itself too seriously. Maybe it doesn't grab everyone the same way. But you should try it!
The OST is awesome, no doubt.
If its on sale maybe I'll try, if its not too long tho. RPGs basically have to have perfect writing and a very interesting and original plot/concept for me to enjoy them, otherwise I get bored pretty quick.
Gameplay looks cool and like it tries to avoid being grindy and repetitive which is rad.
But yea I guess my writing standard for rpgs is very high, that or it has to be very short.
Reddit neckbeards didn't like Yolande because woman no funny, just like in heckin Ghostbusterino
What? Her middle name is Funny!
Pirate jamz all day
Real talk, the Pirate version of the OST goes hard as hell
bland setting/story/character wise tho,
The game is also very, very self-aware.
Very mild beginning-of-game spoilers
Ah, not my kind of thing then
Eh, the zany self-referential/fourth wall antics are mostly limited to Yolande. Otherwise, it's a great homage to Super Mario RPG, Golden Sun, Chrono Trigger, and so forth. I didn't find it too distracting, but I also find it endearing when the developers use a goofball character to nerd out over the classics along with you.
Disclaimer: I'm only about 25-30 hours in on my first playthrough, and put it down a few months ago to perform my wifely duties (read: co-op No Man's Sky with my spouse).
Thats cool! Self referential and fourth wall stuff has to be extremely specific and basically perfect for me to not absolutely hate it. Seeing a little bit of the games humour I think I will probably not enjoy myself ^^
