Could you guys also scrap the ADL? They seem to have jumped the shark in defense of his nazi salute.

They just need to sever the ADL’s ties to Israel. It’s hard for me to believe it’s a NY organization when they parrot Netanyahu’s words and sound nothing like the voices of every Jewish New Yorker I’ve met.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They're just a mouthpiece of the likud party and have been for a while now.

Notice how the state of Israel has nothing to say about this?

Holy shit. The Zionist part of the organisation has completely eaten the anti-hate part.

That (nazi salute) isn't antisemitic at all!

[–] DicJacobus@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (4 children)

For fuck sake.

My point was that while Independent Jewish leaders are calling for the boycott. The State of Israel on the other hand, is holding hands up with Trump like a tag team.

[–] phar@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 month ago

Pretty sure that was his point too

That's because Isreal has been slowly co-opted by xenophobic right wing extramists under the guise of survival.

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago

Always has been. Pre WW2 socialist Jewish currents pretty much all unanimously opposed Zionism.

I know a good boycott to the oligarchs

Fun fact: "petit ami / petite amie" means "boyfriend / girlfriend"

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Even more fun fact: the masculine is gender neutral, so it also means just "friend".

I find it very on brand for these guys to simultaneously piss off Jewish people and Palestinians within just a couple weeks.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 39 points 1 month ago (1 children)

the thing with israel is that it's an anti-semitic state. zionism is an anti-semitic stance. also palestinians are also semitic. it's just… all so dumb

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago

And evangelicals want all the Jews in the world forcibly exiled to Israel because they think that's the only way Jesus will return.

And those motherfuckers better have zip ties and guns if they expect me to put a molecule of my body across the Israeli border.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 56 points 1 month ago

So, a real group of Jewish Leaders rather than a Zionist sockpuppet like the ADL.

[–] Preflight_Tomato@lemm.ee 52 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nazi salutes. He did it twice.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

Hey, at least they called it "Nazi" and not something wishy-washy like "awkward", "problematic", or "Elon Musk salute".

[–] rational_lib@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The salute is just a symbol of much larger antisemitic moves by Elon. It's not hard to find neo Nazis posting swastikas and the like on X and many Jewish users have indicated that reporting those images goes nowhere despite them being specifically enumerated as banned in the official terms of use. There's plenty of evidence out there that Elon is in fact a far right racist if not outright Nazi.

[–] urandom@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

A rich white guy from South Africa might be a nazi? I hardly believe it!

[–] nifty@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

White nationalists are just the same as white supremacists. If there are Jewish people who think Christian Nationalism will protect them, they're forgetting that Nazis were and are very Christian.

Authoritarian leaders turn on their own people and supporters all the time, this has been proven time and again in history. Whatever America is now though, there is still hope in the judiciary and the constitution.

They should have probably boycotted him at the polls, instead of voting for him.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 10 points 1 month ago

Well they should've thought about that before the elections. It's now unwise to antagonize an all powerful dictator.

Even though his scapegoat isn't the Jewish people, I don't think it's impossible they'd still add you to the list later on.
