Pilot couldn't help themselves. they pressed the "Do Not Press This Button" button.

You're kidding, but look up the first "successful" seat ejection from a standstill. The cockpit was designed so badly that the steering wheel or w/e actually hooked on the release trigger for the ejection seat, ejecting a pilot while still on the ground. Ahh, those Russians.

I thought about your comment more than I care to admit, but my conclusion is that in this case it is probably not likely because of the cost of the plane.

I know it’s just a transport aircraft but $4.5m seems like a pretty square deal for a military plane.

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

That's a pretty arbitrary figure. Neither is that thing available on any sort of free market, nor does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to replace.

Yeah it seems odd to focus on the cost in a headline. What the craft did should be more important.

That's gotta be the world's most worthless passenger plane.

That's a very cheap plane, based on my occasional "I wonder how much x costs?" internet searches.

How many of their nukes do you think would just explode on the launch pad.
