I wanted to have an actual quantifiable number for his victims, so I ran the numbers. By my math, Brian Robert Thompson was responsible for the deaths of 40,000 innocent human beings.

I mean, it'd probably only take like 4 or 5 CEOs getting shot before we get some good, common-sense gun control legislation passed. We've got to protect our people*, you know?

* For certain very limited definitions of the word "people".

[-] Embargo@lemm.ee 23 points 1 day ago

I actually believe this would work.

[-] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 15 points 1 day ago

Coincidentally there are 6 down votes on this post as of now lol

Hold up he talking about his destruction of the original films?

[-] karobeccary@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

This was him talking about the phantom menace, but funnily enough he was actually a big proponent of film preservation back in the day.

http://movieline.com/2011/09/01/1988-george-lucas-would-totally-hate-2011-george-lucas/

I think he is a talented person who was put in the wrong position because of his monetary worth, and he made the mistakes we would all make if we had no one to challenge us. Money is as damaging to those 'freed' by it as it is to those of us tethered by it. But I'm thankful he had the opportunity to make such an interesting world, despite how it has turned out.

lol what a tangent :D but thanks for the opportunity to talk about it. For what its worth, I like the idea of the prequels, I just think they were poorly executed.

[-] riwo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago

i think this much money does not free people. it makes them master over others. and that power will either corrupt one or burden them with the responsibility of doing the right, which let's be honest, no one manages.

[-] Hegar@fedia.io 12 points 1 day ago

You may be punished because:

==please incorporate the word rule in your post titles==

Maybe put an R the word "SCHOOLS"?

[-] karobeccary@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I added an alt title in the body text, I hope that is enough <3

how to fix America: a guide.

I realized there are different ways of interpreting this.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago

You know the funny thing about Vigilantes is that we don't really make the decision as a society. If we did that would be called "democracy" but sadly that's all fallen out of fashion lately.

Unrelated rant don't read this. I used to wish someone shot up my school, it would have made all of the staff (yes, every last one) look stupid for overlooking all the actually human students and searching me like I was guaranteed to be a shooter. Seriously, they'd open my laptop and remove the battery to ensure there's no weapon hidden in it, open my 3DS and remove the cartridge and stylus, take the case off my phone, look inside my hat or unfold my beanie, run a metal detector all over me for like 10 minutes, then run it on my devices and whatever accessories I wore, then take each individual item out my bag and run a metal detector over it.

Seriously, every day I'd be held up for at least 20 minutes because security needs to search my notebooks and pencil case (the latter had a metal zipper which they had to triple check so I just gave up on Having My Pens In A Case) and then empty my wallet and search all over it. As if I magically put a gun in my cardholder wallet that had only, you guessed it, cards. Because a stupid puzzle piece made me a terrorist. Right.

When I had less things with me, that was scary because of that stupid fucking puzzle piece. I stopped eating lunch at school because I was tired of having my lunch box searched by ten separate people every day. But of course that stupid puzzle piece is why I don't eat at school anymore. I used to play smash 3DS with others but I stopped bringing my 3DS, now I sit alone, and that's scary, must be that stupid ass puzzle piece that made me a loner, and of course The Quiet Kid is Always The Shooter! Ugh.

So I used to envy those who were actually involved in a shooting, as fucked up as that is.

[-] ruk_n_rul@monyet.cc 21 points 1 day ago

Going through TSA everyday to get an education is wild

[-] karobeccary@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Sounds like school shootings fucked you up, that's no reason to feel shame, but don't let it control you. If it's breaking your brain then honestly seek help. If you can't afford help, then talk to me.

I'm sorry you've been made to feel this way, but there are always people who care. Help us move the needle so other people dont have to feel what you did <3

[-] Arbiter@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago

Sounds like the police state is the problem not school shootings.

[-] Sergio@slrpnk.net 16 points 1 day ago

"It became necessary to destroy the students to save them."

[-] TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago

I didn't read this ^(but I did upvote it)

[-] allo@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

3ds you say? who was your favorite pokemon?

[-] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

yea if that happens they will ban gun ownership in the blink of an eye, win win

[-] lugal@sopuli.xyz 15 points 1 day ago

They did for black people when the Black Panthers armed themselves

[-] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

They just make them prohibitively expensive, so the poor has to be more clever at their "nothing left to lose" moment.

[-] modus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

That was the purpose of the national firearms act.

[-] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

All gun regulations are for the oppressed not the oppressor.

[-] bane_killgrind@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago

A local radio host had the same idea a bit ago
