The class war transcends all others.

American women need only see all the women politicians, CEOs, and doting nepo daughters perfectly comfortable with forcing poor women to take an unwanted pregnancy to term only to have their Healthcare needs denied to understand that.

You need to be human to be in their elite sisterhood first, and your net worth means you don't qualify. Sadly it's all too common to hear that and try to imagine how to break into that little sociopath club rather than fight it.

[-] DogWater@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago

It applies to all regular citizens. Cops tell guys there's nothing they can do about XYZ all the time.

The only divide is class divide.

Also, I thought that lady who used Luigi's shell casing words also said "you're next" which definitely adds to it

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The only divide is class divide.

Every time I see people say this, all I can think is that they've never had someone get in their face and hate them for existing as part of a group of people.

Because there is literally a divide between bigots and non-bigots. There are plenty of dirt-poor bigots out there and "they aren't your real enemy" is not going to convince them.

[-] vonbaronhans@midwest.social 8 points 2 days ago

It's a little chicken and egg, I think. Racist ideas were used to justify slavery, but it's also possible that racist ideas played into the beginning of enslavement of Africans as well.

These days, I think it's just a matter of people become bigoted through largely osmosis, and the conservative mindset is fertile ground for bigoted messaging. Political and economic elites, then, focus on culture war bullshit because it works as an effective smokescreen to prevent the news from focusing on billionaires' (effectively) war crimes.

Big ol feedback loop of bigotry, unfortunately.

[-] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

As someone that says 'no war but class war' let me clarify.....yes there are clearly other divides. They are distracting us to keep us divided. Many times the bigot and non-bigot ven diagrams are 2 circle on top of each other, but it's still based in class warfare.

Rich white went and got poor black slaves because it was cheaper than paying the local poor for work. Then the local poor hate the newly migrated people of color. It was slaves, but moved to employing underage kids for foreign countries. Either way it is still a class divide.

The rich use the media to keep us (working class) mad at each other and blame each other for taking our jobs. The truth is the owner class stole our wealth and sold it back to us for money. We were too distracted with lies about honest work to realize the truth in time. Some of this stuff happens in cycle and they wouldn't notice for themselves. They get stuck buying way too much because it's too easy and they don't realize until they own more stuff than they need.

I know not everyone on 'my side' will agree with me and there are blind spots for me. I'm American, globally my quality of life is awesome and it's on the backs of child slaves that I'm too disconnected with to feel guilty about. If you are an American and feel a certain way about your cell phone and chocolate, just know it's not magic. A bad system that we can make better is currently in place. We take for granted because bad people employing child labor because it is cheap.

We are still on the same side even if we don't know it. I believe it was Warren Buffet that said

There's class warfare, all right, but it's my class, the rich class, that's making war, and we're winning.

[-] DogWater@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

The saying isn't trying to claim those people don't exist, of course they do. The saying is a declaration of the truth. The truth that those people are fucking wrong and dumb for their bigoted beliefs. Because our only enemy is the .01% at the top.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

Your only enemy is the .01% at the top.

A lot of us have a second enemy- the bigots that want us dead. You can call them wrong and dumb for their beliefs, but they would still rather shoot me and people I love in the head than a CEO.

[-] DogWater@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

OMG I know. When I say our I mean all of the middle and lower classes which includes them stop rehashing

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

This is what you said:

The saying is a declaration of the truth. The truth that those people are fucking wrong and dumb for their bigoted beliefs. Because our only enemy is the .01% at the top.

Those fucking wrong and dumb people are my enemy because they want me and people I care about dead much more than any CEO. It's that simple. You want me to team up with a Nazi to fight the people at the top. I'm telling you they're both my enemies. Fascism does not know economic class.

[-] NutWrench@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

This. The job of cops is to protect rich bastards and their stuff.

[-] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 8 points 2 days ago

"you're next" is a prediction, not a threat. Don't normalize the conflation of the two.

[-] DogWater@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Depends completely on context. Idk if you're being tongue in cheek or not

[-] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The context is "beyond a reasonable doubt".

In legalese, "It depends" translates to "Not Guilty": you must assume the accused's purpose and intent was innocent, if any innocent interpretation is at all "reasonable".

With that being the case, cops and prosecutors might have had sufficient justification to conduct an investigation, but that investigation does not seem to have turned up sufficient evidence to arrest or charge her.

She's going to get settlement when she decides to sue. Should be enough to cover the procedure she was apparently denied.

[-] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

No war, but the class war.

[-] trolololol@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Now that I think of it, I think cops sit on the wrong side of the class divide when they're performing their jobs, but on our side when asking for working conditions.

Their job is to protect capital and government. Same for military.

[-] DogWater@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Wild how that works lol

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Wait you mean cops are class traitors? No way!

[-] trolololol@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I've also heard they're bastards, but that can't be true

It should be made clear, phone workers are not the ones deciding you and your loved ones don't get anesthesia, they deserve no hostility as they are merely stuck in the same system trying to feed themselves and their families. The boards, ceo's, and owners of insurance companies raking in billions... They very much should be terrified. Rightly so.

[-] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 147 points 3 days ago

And lest you think this is exaggerating, this guy was released after his EIGHTH arrest for stalking.

[-] dethedrus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 3 days ago

I'm not a big fan of our style of incarceration... slave labor with the constant threat of violence from staff and fellow inmates (dependent upon which facility). But this is a guy who needs to be gone. He will never stop. He has no boundaries. And is constantly being emboldened by a system that says women aren't allowed to ever feel safe.

If it's peaceful, it's not a revolution, it's accountability.

Don't forget, corporations are people too.

I wonder what happens if these incels say "your body, my choice" to a woman who happens to be a CEO. 🤔

My bet is 90% chance they get some prison sentence.

[-] chillinit@lemmynsfw.com 51 points 3 days ago

That's because there is no war but the class war.

She had told her insurance on the phone due to a denied claim "Deny. Depose. Defend. You guys are next" https://lemmy.world/post/23146938

[-] ALoafOfBread@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago

It's crazy because while that could read as a threat, it could just as easily be read like: "You're doing the same thing that got that insurance ceo killed. You're (i.e. your company, people like you, etc are) probably next on the list if this keeps happening to people."

[-] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

That kind of is the threat? The dumb thing is the worker on the phone shouldn't feel threatened because (s)he isn't a stinking rich CEO.

[-] ALoafOfBread@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

But that scenario definitely does not meet the legal definition of a threat. It's just a statement of opinion based on current events - she did not threaten anyone necessarily

[-] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I should have clarified - that's the threat that those prosecuting her are referring to. It is a threat by any contextual interpretation, but it's indeed harmless in comparison to other things that people get away with without consequences all the time. For example murderers in uniform.

Woman says defend, deny, depose, and you’re next to healthcare insurance workers on a recorded zoom call. They arrested her and have her held on $100k bail.

And even after they actually hurt you! Cops don't care about protecting plebs - there's no money in that.

Sexual violence and misconduct are rampant in our society. The police protect the perpetrators of these crimes as much as they protect the wealthy targeted by justified vigilantes. Those who fight back against injustice perpetrated by the wealthy and powerful get harassed by the cops. The role of the police is to stop those getting screwed over by a corrupt system of gender/racial/class hierarchies from exposing their mistreatment or negotiating for more equitable arrangements.

Our system supports those who commit sex/war crimes and punishes those who dare to be victims or who speak out about these injustices.

And then the wealthy act surprised when the victims of sex crimes seeking justice start agitating against overmilitarization and calling for the abolition of policing. Those who are ostracized and forbidden from joining elite society are bound to find common ground with each other and unify against the tyranny we all face.
