I don't use spotify but I think I'll spare everyone my music 'wrap' today :)

But this is for the Studspud:

Jumping from chilli to chilli leaving a wake of aphid destruction. The leaf curl you see could be aphids.. or used be heh.

Good to see them in there on their own accord.

If I were a cheese, I would be a Gorgonzola. It’s not a popular cheese and can be quite salty with a bite from my blue veining. However, there are devout followers who love to crumble it on a boring salad to make it interesting.

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago

I don't know about cheese at all, and only eat tasty cheddar, Colby, or parmesan (and don't even think I've ever tried anything else), so I asked GPT:

You are Gorgonzola. Complex, bold, and quietly powerful—because even the subtlest blue leaves a lasting impression.

Against all resistance from my body I’m doing the washing today to take advantage of the heat and sun outside.

Hope I’ve made the right choice.

My Spotify wrapped has been disappointing me over the past few years. I used to have such an eclectic music taste, but getting older I'm listening to what's familiar to me a bit too much. I don't like the complacency.

Going to spend the next few weeks saving some new music to listen over the holidays, and listening to albums I've saved over the year but never bothered to listen. Currently listening to Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk, for fans of synth-pop and prog-rock this one is for you.

Baku bang on 12!! 🙌🙌

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 7 points 3 weeks ago

12:00:01, actually. I was close, but narrowly missed 😂

(Pretty sure the Reddit autobot was less on the mark though)

IT HERE

Opened the box under my camera as planned. No dramas. No scam. He seemed unhappy I didn't give him the number over the phone, but I was waiting outside, saw him pull in, and started giving him the code as soon as he was ready. Unless he truly had bad intentions he can't be upset about that

All in all, I'm happy. Now my wifi needs should be future proofed for like a decade unless something breaks. Wifi 7 is too expensive, so it's just wifi 6e, and only gigabit (with a single 2.5gbps port). Way over kill for my 100mbps FTTC plan, but I live in hope that one day I shall behold gigabit FTTP

Also noticed there seems to be somebody downvoting all the DTs. Bit weird. Wonder if it's people browsing /all getting the shits that they're seeing posts every day about something they think is irrelevant. Odd way to live, considering there's no algorithm on Lemmy to learn from your voting habits, but oh well

[-] StudChud@aussie.zone 9 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

It's been happening for months 😂 at first I thought one of us was fat fingering the button, but I think someone is just salty lol.

Also noticed that wscholermann has edited all his comments blank here and on Reddit. I hope he's okay.

[-] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 9 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I hope they’re both ok. I don’t always manage to keep up with reading everyone’s comments but wscholermann in particular sounded depressed.

They’re always welcome to come back anytime they wish and I hope everything is alright

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Aw :/ I also just noticed Oztrin deleted everything, too

W's last comment was on my rambling yesterday. I actually read it and meant to reply but it slipped my mind

@wscholermann@aussie.zone if you're still around please know I didn't mean to ignore you, and also didn't take your comment to be a "pull yourself up by the bootstraps mentality" as that other person said. I thought it was actually a lovely sentiment (genuinely, not just saying that to make you feel better or anything. I appreciated the encouragement). I've appreciated your help, and hope you are okay

E: just noticed all their comments were edited 5/6 days ago. Super hope they're okay

skipped the coffee today, no coke either. those 2 black teas are the pillar of my consciousness today but they are pretty wonky pillars. Sometimes I wonder how much coffee powers my mental health barriers and that just makes the days easier? Maybe thats a thread I dont really want to pull on.

I'm in a very bad mood over having to pay for something and now not having much to spare for the next few weeks.

Super moody and annoyed.

[-] just_kitten@aussie.zone 9 points 3 weeks ago

I am also very grumpy thanks to the heat and this extremely easily avoidable $198 fine. Currently calculating how much more hours I'd have to work to earn that back...

I love animals so much. All of them but cats are the best

Edit: Hmm. Hot day ahead. I might peg out this wet washing now so I don’t have to do it in the morning. Currently night owling. Maybe I’ll knock out another load now just to empty this stupid hamper faster.

Ugh. I had washed some poster paint off a tshirt to save it from staining but left it sitting wet for days and it reeks. I’m soaking it but don’t think I want it to go through my washing machine. Might just throw it out.

I hope the washer isn’t bothering the neighbours fish (seen in window). I’d have fish for Melbcat to watch but could not manage the regular tank maintenance so I don’t.

[-] Catfish@aussie.zone 7 points 3 weeks ago

I'd love to keep seahorses, but that's an extra tricky tank so on the probably never list...

Kind of glad uni fieldwork ended early today, I'm so fried. Bad news is some setbacks re method, good news is we've gotten a lot more context and some real direction with where to go from here. It's late in the scheme of things but at least this project feels more real now, for all its numerous flaws

taught tinyset to "cheers" last night. thought it was gonna take a while over a couple of days but he kept stopping eating dinner to do it. He doesnt always say cheers, but about 50% of the time he does. thank god i was drinking water or i'd be under the table!

Today has been really rough for anxiety. Everything is hard right now and it’s a real struggle to cope. I caved and napped but at least I saw some sun and that will help nudge me towards the daytime.

Melbcat gets her b shots tomorrow and I’m really nervous about learning to do it.

The alyssum seeds have a best before of August… guess I’ll see if they sprout. The nasturtium should be fine. There’s an abandoned patch of earth that’s technically mine that I could sow directly into but I kind of don’t want to go out there because of unprotected proximity to a violent crazy neighbour and cooked passers by.

I might sow them into a container until they’re stronger then either plant them fast when the coast seems clear - or use recycled containers as pots. Or see how well they fight it out with the invasive grass that’s taken over what little soil I have in the yard.

I would have preferred these be native plants… Just trying to get some pollinators and good bugs in here and using what I could easily get my hands on.

I might spritz the zucchini with very weak soapy water, maybe like a drop of natural dish detergent, then water it off tonight.

I was given my prezzie early and have been having great fun with it in between work things. Think I'll break the cultural loading and make my own book choices though.

Must haves Hungry Caterpillar, Grug, Mr Grumpy, Smoke & Fluff. Other ideas welcome. Needs to be recognisable at 9x14mm

Got mesh setup :)

As predicted, bit janky. Not sure I'd recommend to link deco mesh for somebody who's not comfortable navigating unhelpful error messages

I did come to the unfortunate realisation that chocolate topping I thought was empty (and closed) spilled onto a laptop I had running an ArchiveTeam warrior and BOINC projects. It's probably been seeking in, basking in the hot cpu for 2 or 3 days

I isopropyl'd as much as I could, but I'm not confident in laptop disassembly. Now debating if it's worth taking it to a repair shop to get a proper scrub done, or hoping my surface level (plus whatever IPA seeped inside) fixes it

[-] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I have thus far (after coming home from work):

  • Eaten 2 chicken sausages, like heathen, straight outta the fridge (also a slice of banana bread).
  • Removed the floating shelf bracket, screws and plugs (one has a hole big enough for a journey to the centre of the earth, but at least I now have a sample big enough to get colour-matched).
  • Had a rinse.
  • Killed some bugs (sorry, there was just no other way).

Now need to go to Bunnings, maybe Ikea for some spares.

In the meantime drooling over seeing a black Daytona 675 in the flesh ride by me today… I legit was in lust, heart beating fast and all that jazz. Lucky I stayed in my lane from all the perving I was trying not to do. 😂

OTOH, I could just go for a ride… (but the dwelling now resembles something out of hoarders.)

I lost my birth certificate AND my passport so I had to jump on Vic Birth Death Marriages website and jump through hoops (on my own end) to order a new birth certificate. My god what a horrible, unintuitive website. I have no idea if I've done it correctly or if it is being processed now or not.
