Accounts are cheap!

[–] Pacrat173@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Same and I’d migrate if I knew a way to transfer my subbed communities

(There’s a way to do this… right?)

[–] gigachad@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 years ago

Yes you can export/import those as a JSON somewhere in the settings I think

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 years ago

exporting your settings does it

Dared create an account on an instance administered by controversial people, to say the least.

Personally, I couldn't care less about the user names. Ad hominems are worthless, even if certain servers have certain tendencies. At the end of the day, only the substance of the argument, and whether it passes critical thought, matters. Information isn't truth. Information is worthless.

While I think the meme’s a bit far, if I see a .ml talking about how great China is, I’m going to just glaze over whatever they’re saying.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Someone had too much Honey.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What were they supposed to have, maple instead? Yeah, I see you over there with your .ca instance. *squints suspiciously*

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

I’m drunk on maple right now don’t trust me..hiccup.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

While that is a valid point, you will be on the back foot as far as making a point goes due to the actions of other people on your instance.

[–] agamemnonymous@lemmy.ml 25 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I dug this account out just to comment. It was one of the biggest instances during the migration, and I am a leftist. Not a tankie though, I made a new account pretty quickly.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The tankies talk all about how they’re against imperialism when the US and Israel do it but apparently it is okay for Russia to invade to Ukraine and for China to invade Taiwan.

[–] RIPandTERROR@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

Perhaps it's not okay for US & Israel, Russia, or China to invade other countries and they should all just chill the fuck out for a bit so we can fix our shit.

Takes a hit

[–] fuckingkangaroos@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah I just skip comments if I see they're from Lemmy.ml.

I hate that instance.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That instance got blocked on my end and unfortunately Vegantheoryclub.org has similar issues.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I haven't actually seen any comments from that instance, I wonder if ee federates with them?

Given how that instance got started, it doesn't surprise me they have some extreme views.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They’re one of the smaller ones at 77 users and they’re federated with lemm.ee.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm guessing they also don't interact all that much outside their instance, too.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

They tend to hang around vegan spaces.

[–] Ascend910@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I'm out of the loop, can someone explain the joke?

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lemmy.ml has a reputation for really bad takes, and the mods and admins ban people for not supporting the admins' favorite genocides.

[–] PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I see, that makes more sense. Thanks for the explanation!

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I assumed so, since this meme format usually is.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 2 years ago

I know it should but no idea what. Seems more like just op mad

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 2 points 2 years ago

oh i'm sure the comments on this post will be real civil

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

I wish you could block out all the ml users from commenting or replying to your stuff when you block the instance.

I also wish more instances defederated from them but maybe the admins are scared it would discourage the developers from continuing the project.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

On the virtue that the username's instance doesn't matter? Sure.

I doubt that is the aim of the meme's take though.

[–] gigachad@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago
[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social -2 points 2 years ago

You can block the instance because their mods are dick heads and their users sometimes say things you disagree with, or you can keep trying to splinter Lemmy, one is more productive than the other.
