Trans people are extreme...ly cool and valid 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

I’ve found !trans@lemmy.blahaj.zone to have a more active community and better modding.

[-] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz -2 points 2 weeks ago

Drag has had a negative experience with the moderation on that community.

So drag got banned due to a moderator misunderstanding a comment drag made on an entirely different community. Drag contacted the mods and cleared up the misunderstanding, and drag is no longer accused of encouraging suicide. However, there are now secret accusations against drag that the moderators won't share and that aren't in the modlog. Banning people for secret reasons and refusing to allow appeals is messed up.

Drag contacted the mods

Why bother?

[-] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 0 points 1 week ago

Because people like Catoblepas keep saying they're good mods.

Life's too short; I usually cut my losses and bail.

The problem is that modlogs form a permanent record on Lemmy. Drag didn't encourage suicide. The c/trans people don't believe drag encouraged suicide. That issue was cleared up. But there's still a permanent note saying drag encouraged suicide. It's a lie. They could take back the lie by unbanning drag, and they could even ban drag again with the true reason. But the true reason is a secret, so they're choosing to keep lying. It's messed up.

Give Discuit a try; the mods there are usually reasonable.

Maybe on the surface, but it's blocked by this instance (and many others) for good reasons.

It's a snake pit.

How very extremist of you

Can we not devolve into shit talking other communities and childish in-fighting? Drama like this is exactly what made Reddit awful, and I hate seeing stuff like this here.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning toxic communities (as many on here claim hexbear is). If your community actively ascribes to promoting hate, for instance, it should be removed/locked/etc. I am, however, making the distinction that we don't need to witch-hunt other communities because we don't agree with their policies or how they are run.

Downvote, unsubscribe, block, and move on.

Hexbear does actively promote hate towards any non-socialist political ideologies, and towards any trans- and homophobic people. They're not entirely wrong, it's the means they choose that i hate. They're not reducing the amount of hate, only increasing it. Also, seeing such level of hostility they have is depressing.

Hear me out, there are trans people who are indeed extremists (I should know, I've been victim to many of them). However that doesn't mean all trans people are. Trans people are just people, and like all people there are good ones, evil ones, and ones who make mistakes.

Hexbear are extremists though, there might be some decently alright people on there but for the most pat the active ones there are very extreme and tend to spam, lash out, throw insults, and it's very likely they were the ones who DDoSed Lemmy.world in the days of frequent outages shortly after Lemmy.world denied them. OP you made the right call, it is a very bad idea to recommend people go to hexbear.

[-] Crow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

Okay, I'm trying to piece the story together. So, there was a post linking to more secure and decentralised platforms for trans people to use following the US election. I'm not entirely sure which part of it is the extremist pipeline. Did you specifically mean hexbear? I heard some bad stuff about it so yeah idk

[-] will_steal_your_username@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Hexbear is a very toxic instance with mods that allow their users to harass others. Both hexbear and .ml are filled with tankie users and mods, which is another reason to avoid those places

[-] spider@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 2 weeks ago

with mods that allow their users to harass others

And the mods will even delete your comments if you push back at this.

[-] Canadian_Cabinet@lemmy.ca 29 points 2 weeks ago

Hexbear is another instance that's just full of tankies and terminally online idiots. Most other instances have them banned because all they do is cause trouble

I actually saw these comments before they were deleted.

It was a post listing a bunch of resources for trans people to use to digital protect themselves in light of the election. One example is it suggested Matrix instead of Discord.

On the list it included a couple trans-friendly Lemmy instances. IIRC the 3 instances listed were from blahaj.zone, lemmy.ml, and hexbear. A couple people commented that they liked the idea but didn’t like the inclusion of hexbear.

The mod also listed their own inactive community rather than the actually active trans communities for whatever reason. It's not a very good list of online spaces whatsoever

:/ How very ungenerous of them (not surprised)
