/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

"My child, I will only be dictator on day one."

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Aah I see. So what's for day 2, Queen? Emperor? God?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

My child….

Outside state-level things, it really doesn't.

Although, here in Missouri, an abortion ban, a $15 minimum wage, and a Republican candidate for governor who would refuse to implement both if passed are all on the ballot, so yes, GTFO and vote.

Ey! Fistbump Also BS anti-ranked choice measure in STL.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

Oh yeah.

Super deceptive stuff. I voted against it. Hopefully everyone will.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

It's only a $13 minimum wage, because $15 we already voted for got shot down by the state congress.

Kira would be at the polls early for a chance to vote that broad out.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 4 points 8 months ago

She would be in charge of poll security

This reminds me of my favorite blurb I've found while browsing Memory Alpha:

Although the writing staff of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine had spent almost the entirety of the show's second season planning to make Bareil the new kai, electing Winn to that position was a last-minute decision. "We were all sitting in the room," recalled Robert Hewitt Wolfe, "and it occurred to us, 'God, we could […] make Winn the kai. That's a scary idea!'"

A little while back, my hometown’s mayoral election was decided by a difference of just 5 votes. Unfortunately, the candidate I didn’t like won the election. I didn’t live there anymore and wasn’t able to vote, but it really showed me the importance of voting at all levels of government.

Technically two votes would matter. Because in this scenario, your vote would’ve led to a tie. So you’d need someone else to break the tie.

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

True, but even if it comes down to a coin toss, there's still a chance we'd have had Kai Bareil.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 2 points 8 months ago

And then someone killed him.

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Did you say break the Kai?

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 1 points 8 months ago

No ranked-choice voting on Bajor, it seems.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 8 months ago

Every vote counts!

I’m just one, but I’m just one of many
