Welcome to c/electoralism! politics isn't just about voting or running for office, but this community is.

Please read the Chapo Code of Conduct and remember...we're all comrades here.

Shitposting in other comms please!

MODERATORS

put all of your election posting here so it doesn't bother anyone else!

from @CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net:

For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.

I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.

No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!

Liberals on multiple occasions have quoted Malcolm X on social media in relation to pro-Kamala sentiments or disheartenment about her loss, and it's enraging me how many don't recognize the irony. Some of these libshits are white, and that makes it doubly ironic, but this particular post is by a black woman:

Caption:

Today, I have no words—only tears. Tomorrow, I’ll find some. The next day, I fight.

It's this kind of shit that's prompted me to say what I said in the pinned c/agitprop thread.

“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, it's not what we fought for, it's not what we voted for, but listen to me when I say: the light of America's promise will always burn bright,” Kamala Harris told supporters at Howard University on Wednesday.

“We must accept the results of this election,” Harris told the crowd. “Earlier today, I spoke with President Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I said that I would help him and his team in this transition, and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power,” She added.

The Palestinian will achieve liberation through weapons and violence against the settler colonial state of "israel" and their allies the United States, whatever happens with the elections.

Free Palestine. Death to "israel".

I've seen so many libs now going "latino men voted for trump cause they're too sexist to let a woman lead" and wishing for their deportation while ignoring many latin american countries have had female leaders, currently Nicaragua does and Mexico literally elected one earlier this year but nah its latino men who are all sexist pigs, definatly not kamala bragging how she deported more immigrants than trump ever did or how the border wall is actually based lmao

I'm split on who wins. For a long time I leaned Trump, but these recent days... I think the dems might actually pull off the mythological "moderate" republican. Trump is weird, JD Vance is weird, Elon is incredibly weird, they're all cringy and Kamala is worse than most republicans, so maybe she gets them. On the other hand she loses a large amount of voters the dems take for granted, on account of her being a republican now.
I dunno.

last minute "funniest outcome" attempt: electoral draw, all four of Trump, Harris, Vance and Walz successfully assassinated by suspects known to the FBI within 48 hours, Joe remains president

Needle at 69% Trump, I'm going to bed :catgirl-flop:

GG Kamala, should have considered the context instead of just expecting to fall out of a coconut tree and win.

A bunch of "leftist" streamers are fearmongering about Trump at the last second. I think this is maybe the first time I've removed a post by Good Politics Guy from /r/BreadTube, because he's suddenly discovered that Trump is a Epstein-adjacent child molester and is fine with murdering journalists, and GPG is now screaming about Trump "ending our democracy". Asleep at the wheel until two days before the election? WTF?!

lathe-of-heaven Trump wins popular vote and electoral college 270-268 but two electors switch sides at the last moment, giving presidency to Harris

The Needle

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/11/05/us/trump-harris-election

---

At Bluesky the mood was positive and optimistic as recently as this morning. That's gone. They're (very) worried.

she can absolutely still win via the blue wall but just for fucking once I would like to be pleasantly surprised by results with Trump on the ballot and once again it's worse than expected and I am fucking tired of it

https://subium.com/profile/rincewind.run/post/3laan5ay5h72q

I thought the presidential results would be contested for days or weeks and maybe the SCOTUS GOP judges would override the vote and give him the presidency. But Trump might just win it outright in ~6 hours or whatever. Sooner?

Also worth mentioning how funny/bonkers it is that we don't know who wins on election night. Because the other team brings in rules lawyers to make the bean counters double count and triple count the beans because reasons. While in other countries they know like an hour after the polls close.

some pulls from reddit-logo/neoliberal

I guess at the end of the day it’s all just purchasing power. Cuz even though the economy is killing some metrics, people can’t spend like it’s 2018 and so it’s “bad”

At least we won't have to deal with NATO anymore 🤷

Dems held on to anti-racism too long after the last election. They weren’t going to win voters by letting the far-left call every white person a racist, even people who were sympathetic to the cause. Best to just unify people and not listen to the far-left

The thing that bothers me is the Republicans aren’t going to meaningfully change anything.

Kamala ran a picture perfect campaign besides maybe foreign policy, anti-incumbency is a hell of a drug I guess.

Tonight might literally be the death of the neoliberal world order.

Bright spot for this sub, Hillary is no longer the worst performing candidate vs. trump

tell me about the rabbits, George...

Once again, liberals are trying to blame George Bush on third party voters, ignoring the fact that the Supreme Court stole the election (and they let them get away with it).

2 more votes for De La Cruz (wife and I).

Let's fucking go!

... I guess

[–] The_Riddler@hexbear.net 37 points 9 months ago

Kamala can still be president if Biden croaks i-do

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 37 points 9 months ago

I vooted. Scratched one in for Claudia and a couple Greens for House/Senate. Wait was longer than usual. I think they combined a couple extra precincts into this polling place. Took about 25 minutes in total, but the line was probably twice as long when I left vs. when I got there.

Stopped at the liquor store on the way home, and as I was leaving I passed the cashier in line. Atmosphere was rather mellow. Lots of people brought their kids. From the vibes, you could hardly tell this is the last election in history.

[–] stigsbandit34z@hexbear.net 37 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I legit have people in my life who are taking this shit so seriously (and giving themselves anxiety in the process), and I’m honestly not sure how to respond. They genuinely believe that Kamala is a much lesser evil and will protect them more, and I don’t know how to tell them that’s absolutely delusional.

I am reaching the point of utter disbelief

Watching this Godamn fucking election coverage on the mainstream press

The “analyst” clearly showed how Kamala Harris can lose if she doesn’t get enough votes in one key state, though the numbers in question showed millions more votes than Trump

What is wrong with the average person that they continue to stand by this bullshit? Fucking rubes

I had hoped that third parties would get a larger share of the vote this time, but from what I can tell, they did rather poorly. Honestly more disappointing than the actual result
