Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.

A Palestinian resistance IED strike on a Merkava tank eliminated a Zionist senior commander, Colonel Ehsan Daqsa (commander of the "401st Armored Brigade"), in the Jabaliya refugee camp. Snip:

Colonel Ehsan Daqsa, 41, was killed after his tank and another tank were hit by explosive devices during military operations in Jabalia refugee camp.

Another Israeli soldier was seriously wounded during the same incident.

Daqsa has been described in Israeli media as one of the most senior officers to have been killed since the war on Gaza began over a year ago.

I feel like I've seen this one. quite a few times, even! Let me guess: literally no infantry were around protecting the armor at all, and so some guy in flipflops was able climb out of a hole dug into the ground, run up, put a idf-destroyer on it, and then jump back into the hole in the ground, while taking no fire in doing so.

How close was I?

military operations in Jabalia refugee camp

six consecutive words specifically crafted to send you into a burning rage

[–] anarcho_blinkenist@hexbear.net 51 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

carrying out 'military operations' in the places people were forced to try to flee to in order to avoid the death-and-destruction of our previous 'military operations.' repeat ad nauseum

most moral army btw give us more money and bombs for our 'right to defend ourselves' in this manner

Check the video of it

I don't think the infantry would've helped

[–] Des@hexbear.net 51 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That explosion tho... I think someone rigged one of Israel's undetonated unguided bombs as an IED, lmao

That's being environmental! Remember, just as the Native Americans used every part of the buffalo, we must use every part of the UXO...

The Basque Space Agency continues to inspire people to push the limits of how many differential Gs an occupier's constitution can be subjected to.

[–] anarcho_blinkenist@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

reminds me of the pioneer of the famed Basque Space Program, Cosmonaut Carrero

Yeah I don't care about the lives of uncle tariqs (idk what else to call Arabs that sell out their own). Damn him and any other Arab that supports exterminating other Arabs like Palestinians and Lebanese.

The fuck is a "military operation in a refuge camp"?! honk

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Assuming this is rhetorical, but for everyone else: this "military operation" more or less seems to have the goal of total extermination of every last Palestinian north of Gaza city.

Yeah it is rhetorical, hence the goose. The idea that any military would "conduct operations" in a refugee camp belays that they're trying to kill the refugees. And let's be real, they want to exterminate all Palestinians.

In regards to this piece of trash:

Earlier this year, he ordered the destruction of the Canada Well water facility, which supplied 50% of the water in southern Gaza’s Rafah governorate, where much of the population had evacuated.

Wow, I hope you burn in hell you disgusting piece of trash.

Feels so good when scum actually get what's coming for them.

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

Dude took that scene from Spec Ops the Line and went "this is good actually."

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Situations like this honestly make me wish that hell was real so people like that can go to it.

Love how their soldiers are either a 21 year old major general in charge of posting images of IOF soldiers rifling through underwear drawers for propaganda purposes, or a 40 year old Colonel who is commanding a force of multiple heavy brigades because he's the only one familiar with advanced concepts like "flanking".

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 23 points 1 year ago

with advanced concepts like "flanking".

damn, i wonder if they promote you by the amount of hours you've logged into Total War thinking-about-it

Israeli "Defence" Forces be like: rest in peace colonel Yoav Shalom, who died valiantly protecting an open window in Rafah City. Yeah he was 17 years old and only finished basic training two weeks ago what about it?

Meanwhile, Israeli settlers held a conference near the border with Gaza, with the Israeli army allowing them to set up tents for the Jewish festival of Sukkot.

Haaretz reported that the "Preparing to resettle Gaza" conference, organised by the Nachala Settlement Movement which establishes illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, set up 50 sukkah tents and were set to sleep in them on Sunday night.

The tents were erected in a closed military area near Kibbutz Be'eri.

Nachala said last week that the conference was "planned not only as a theoretical conference, but as a practical exercise and practical preparation for resettlement in Gaza."

"The return to settlement in Gaza is no longer an idea, but a move that is currently in an advanced stage with the support of the government and the public," it added.

Hope they get blown to pieces.

After all this, any zionist freak who pitches a tent there will never know peace or rest.

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Imagine being a POS in a merkava, designed explicitly to protect its occupants by placing the engine in the front as extra armour, only to hear a gentle "thud" over the sound of the idling engine shortly before the poorly protected side armour spalls around your cockpit and turns you and your closest colonizer mates into shredded chicken. All because your fellow child murderers are too chicken shit to support their flanks.
