Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

Linux without rice is great and can't be better, but with rice you have rice on top of that meaning by definition it has to have a higher score. I'm high too.

    [–] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

Stirred or just pour them on top?

    [–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Soy sauce, maybe some diced vegetables

    [–] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Any chicken? My laptop loves chicken and I would rather not cut it out of his diet, he gets moody.

    [–] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 16 points 3 months ago (1 children)

No Mac is complete without cheese, maybe a nice melter like gruyere?

    [–] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 months ago

    Yes, my thoughts as well.

    [–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Pro tip - that unibody macbook has one of the best laptop keyboards out there. You can grab one for like thirty bucks.

    [–] lengau@midwest.social 9 points 3 months ago (5 children)

Next time use arborio rice. It sticks together nicely and creates a protective layer for your keyboard.

I was told this was appropriate.

    [–] NastyNative@mander.xyz 8 points 3 months ago

Grind the rice to a fine dust.. you wont need those packets.

    [–] credo@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Dunk your computer in water first, then the rice will have more effect.

They're in the silica packages, they're not fans of ricing... or so I was told.

    [–] brrt@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

You just have to Nix it all together.

    [–] ALilOff@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Close it down as hard as you can to create a seal. You’re trying to just get moisture out of the laptop not the air.

Tastes better with sauce. I prefer Sambal Olek or Tabasco, but Maggi is also fine if you're that kind of person.

    [–] cygnus@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Not visible: the bottom of the case bulging out because the battery is inflating like a balloon

You forgot to soak the rice first wash it a few times, put it into the caldero, add some water till 1 inch above the level of the rice. Can use your thumb to measure that. Then put into the stove use your laptop as cap for the caldero wait for 30 minutes and your done you still have broken laptop and a rice ready to serve.
