This comment explains why I find it not wack... no, people are not literally calling for it, yes, it is an inside joke, and also no, the west is not being "cruelly oppressed" or whatever by hearing people say it (rather the opposite, I think western reactions to it expose their own persecution complex which is a response to some level of denial/dissociation from societal guilt)
