is that one of the private messaging apps? I think Ive seen people advising not to use it but havent bothered to check why x3

Open means "uben" in german so

Free Libre Open Source Software is FLUSS in german and that roughly translates to "fucking" and I think that's beautiful.

[-] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 1 month ago

Wrong on... pretty much all accounts

[-] SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That is incredibly wrong

  1. "Uben" doesn't exist.
  2. Open means "offen"
  3. "Fluss" would be river or flow or flux
[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Open in German is "offen," and Fluss means "river" (or "flux"), so ... no.

yeah i know i was joking

maybe it wasn't a good joke ^^

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Maybe it was by German standards

[-] RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

The book of German humor is incredibly thin.

No it is not, it as an extremely long book with thousands of pages. It just isn’t funny.

[-] superkret@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

It wasn't funny, but fun for Germans, cause it gave them a chance to correct you and explain their language.
