Never do the math on how old the classics were when you were a kid. My first concert ever was Tom Petty when I was under 10. I recently saw Tool live. When I saw Tom Petty in the early 90s he was newer than Tool was when I saw them last year. I am oldening.
My first concert ever was Fall Out Boy in 2006, when I was 16 years old. I saw them again this year, 18 years later. The time between those 2 shows was longer than the time between my birth and the first show, and to me it felt like only a few years had gone by. The next time I blink I'll be 50.
Yeah. Between the first time and the last time I'd seen a Styx concert was like a 20 year span.
Next time I blink I'll be 182
Buddy, all that shit came out 30 years ago. At this point it IS classic rock. This isn't even a meme.
Dont say that
Fuck you Chevelle is awesome. Get off my lawn.
Saw them live a few years ago opening for Breaking Benjamin, they still put on a killer show.
Stop, stop, I'm already ~~dead~~ old!
I'll probably catch some heat for this but Creed and Nickelback are both pretty solid bands. I wouldn't call either my favorite by any means but it is my firm opinion that the hate they've gotten over the years is more of a viral opinion than any legitimate criticism.
While we're on the subject, listen to Alterbridge if you haven't heard them. It's Creed with Myles Kennedy as a front man, who is an amazing singer.
Nickelback isn't a bad band. They were just over marketed and over played to death. People don't hate the band so much as that aspect of the music industry.
I think It was a bandwagon thing. It got cool to hate on them and everyone just went with it.
It's maybe also something about Nickelback fans. As a Nickelback fan, I can't really blame anyone for whom Nickelback is not their cup of tea.
We're just such a gosh darned reasonable fandom. I'm sorry when I think about how members of Nickelback have suffered for my politeness and good taste, though.
They're both fairly mid imo, but definitely don't deserve anything like the nuclear hate they got. Alterbridge is pretty great, all the good parts of Creed without Scott Stapp grunting all over everything.
Creed is awesome.
I think the Creed and Nickelback hate is a cringe US phenomenon. Luckily it never swapped over to the rest of the world.
We made fun of Nickelback in their home country as well but not anymore. They just played a sold out show last week here so their popularity isn't slowing.
Nickelback is alright i think. But the amount of time it was played on the radio was insane. I think that tipped me over and i completely stopped listening to it. But that is hardly their fault.
Nickelback hate made it to the UK—I'm pretty sure it's still regarded as pretty cringe to say you like them to most of the people that still know the name
You love what you love. If others don’t, that’s cool. I quite like some songs by Nickelback, but they aren’t quite my favourite. I find myself listening to Creed from time to time and I think they are great.
As for AB, the best band ever as far as I’m concerned. There is not a single AB album I haven’t played again and again. I’ve seen them live ten times or so, and will go see them every time I get the opportunity. And Myles could sing the phonebook and I’d still love it.
Creed and Nickelback are both pretty solid bands.
Found the non-human AI that doesn't have ears.
I was never much of a Creed fan, but I'll agree with you on Nickelback. At least Silver Side Up, that's a pretty solid album. But holy fuck did that song get overplayed to death. I never liked it.
Keep your creed, I don’t need that bullshit.
So you're saying you're not attending the Creed cruise next year?!
Oh my fucking god.
Guess I am now! jk
that first Godsmack album absolutely fucked
second one did too
is that good or bad?
Good!
Wholeheartedly agree. I instantly fell in love with it, but I found the albums that came out after somewhat disappointing.
I'm in this meme and I don't like it
Korn!
Korn are touring!
So are the Rolling Stones
Every cigarette you smoke adds 5 minutes to Kieth Richards life.
I'm surprised they didnt tour Ohio more often. We have tons of corn fields!
She hates time, make it stop
When did Mötley Crüe become classic rock?
The time since the release of that song is longer than 1985 was from it (2004).
I owned 5 of those on CD. Worthless Internet points if you can guess the one I never owned.
Chevelle
Surprisingly incorrect
Creed?
Nope! Loved me some Creed. Loved My Own Prison enough that I got Human Clay, too. That one didn't get as many spins.
Bottom left? I don't even know what that one is. I know I had the 3 on the top row though.
Limp Bizkit's Significant Other. That received heavy rotation.
That's Limp Bizkit. Their best album.
Creed
Like how all new metal is nu-metal, right?
Classic rock does not mean old. It's a specific fucking genre. This is like insisting whatever's new must be modernist because it's modern, and old modernism is now post-modern. That's not how words work.
Aerosmith's "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" was contemporaneous with these albums, and it was classic rock at the time.
