Why are the memes on Lemmy so bad? Am I just past it?

Do you guys work 8 hours every single day of the year? I work 1800h and already feel like a slave with no free time

It's worse than that. On average, we spend 2,080 hours at work. This doesn't account for holidays, but there are also businesses that don't close during holidays, and of course vacations are a luxury for a lot of people. It's a ballpark estimate for working 40 hour weeks all year.

US government uses 2087 hours as the annual amount for employees. Gotta squeeze in that extra 7 hours.

Not everywhere - some use 1,920.

I just realized if I count my commute, I will spend nearly 3,120 hours of my year working…

US Merchant Marine - work 2190 hours in 6 months and take the rest of the year off.

Navy: work 24 hours a day for 6 months, plus 10 hours a day for the rest. Leave denied.

And that's why you don't join the military. Problem solved.

Puts the 4-day Time Cube to shame, really.
